Hello chaps, A Leamington fan here. We're visiting Worcester on Saturday as we play Evesham, and some of us may be coming across on the train. Anyone know roughly how long the walk is from Foregate Street to St Georges Lane? And are there any pubs along the way that are safe enough for us to go in?! Any info will be appreciated, thanks.

Paul, come out of the station and turn right, approx 1 1/2miles upthat road (past school and st georges square) turn right into St georges lane North (I think it's North) anyway over the road you will see a sign for footy ground. ground third on left Plenty of pubs on either side of the road. This route is a favourite stag night run because it starts further past the lane and involves loads of pubs, The Cavalier next to the ground is ideal for a post walk pint and sarnie See our supporters club website www.freewebs.com/wcfcsupporters/index.htm

yes there are many pubs along the main road which you would past i would say they are all 'safe' mainly because i doubt evesham fans drink in them.

What Evesham fans?
If you like you real ale turn right out of Foregate Street station and you have a Wetherspoons - good value and then cross the road to walk down to the Lane and you will find a number of hospitable pubs with good beer - not to hard to spot.
Crossing back over you'll see the Talbot but I'd give this a miss as the beer often runs out - yes really!

Were we?! I know we didn't win many games in those days! Hopefully we'll be back there at some stage, along with yourselves.

Alliance Premier League 1979-80 Brakes 1 City 0; City 1 Brakes 1 1980-81 Brakes 2 City 1; City 3 Brakes 3 1981-82 Brakes 0 City 1; City 2 Brakes 1 I think it was two seasons before we joined the APL that I watched a game in the worst fog I have seen a match completed in. I think only about 15 of us City supporters made the trip to the Windmill for a night game. We didn't have much of a clue what was going on (nothing new there I hear you say ) and had to wait for the match report in the Evening News the next day although much of that was probably made up as I don't expect the reporter could have seen any more than we did.

Evesham 0-2 Leamington
The way Leamington are going they'll be back in the Conference way before City.
They already average crowds over 500. Not bad for two levels down?

Nice friendly people in that pub. We stayed there a little too long after everyone else had gone after the game, and ended up missing our train! We had to wait until nearly 8 for the next one. My mates couldn't undestand why in that time, two trains arrived on the opposite platform that were going to Hereford, but there was only one to Birmingham! We met one of your supporters on the train back to Cov, actually. He lives there, poor bloke. ;D Apparently, one of your stewards does the Evesham games as well, and he made a bit of a tit of himself on Sat. We were asked by our secretary at half time if we could take our flags down because they were covering some advertising. No problem there, we took them down, but this guy then came round and started raising his voice, and then told one of our lot to stop shouting at him, i'll throw you out, etc! Really uneccessary. He then went round the other end, made some more of our lads move flags that weren't even covering any advertising, and nearly threw someone out because he had bought an empty plastic pint glass outside with him! Are all stewards like this in the Conference North? We had a laugh at Nuneaton in pre season taking the p*ss out of the stewards there when they refused to let anybody stand by the perimeter fencing round the pitch. The other guys who were stewarding at your place on Sat didn't think we were doing anything wrong, and they all said that this other chap was a ******! We had an enjoyable trip, anyway. Love your ground. Such a shame it will be just another housing estate in years to come.

Are all stewards like this in the Conference North? No, that's just Hitl Sid being his usual self!!!! I think our wonderful administrator has been banned by him at least once. I watched your game at Stratford last year - I was rather an unlucky charm as it was your first defeat I believe?!

Yeah, Stratford was our first defeat in the league last season. You're not the same chap we met on the train back to Cov, are you? I'm guessing probably not.

Stewards in non-league are the same all over after all the reason they do the job is so they can get to watch football for free, even though the downside is that they have to wear a high viz jacket. I don't think I'd trust my life in their hands if there was a real emergency at the ground. Flag moving is about the limit if their abilities, give them a problem like foul language or abuse and they are well out of their depth.

You'd have met Andy (I think) on the way back to Cov! I went back to Worcester after the game on Saturday and sat in the Cav all night so it wasn't me anyway!!
