Today chairman Dave Boddy announces on the official site the launch of City's new away shirt, with the help of Miss Worcester, which is a rather natty number in Red and Black.
Now I have no problem with that but one sentence in the press release caught my eye.
"The shirt replaces last season’s Red & White striped away shirt which became impractical with the White back clashing with the White in many home teams' shirts."
Last seasons shirt was supplied by Sport Italia (a company of which Mr Boddy was a director i believe). I and most of those I spoke to saw the problem with the white back immediately.
So I see this as another cock up by our illustrious leader but one which would have been profitable for the company and yet another needless cost for this cash strapped club.

I also noticed that Sport Italia are not supplying this kit, this is not another Dave Boddy business venture gone wrong is it?

The team wore horrible orangey shorts at Weston. I am glad to see they have had the big heaveho

The shorts will have the name of a new sponsor on them "Proppa". I wager that the first comment of "oi number 10 you're a Proppa a**e" will come approximately 1 minute 13 seconds into the Bromley game.

The black bits look like the straps of a rather large rucksack.

It's not the kit that's the problem.

It's not the kit that's the problem. It would seem that what's inside the kit is more of interest to our Southern friends tinyurl.com/5rqdh6

Just about everyone I spoke with, or know down at SGL, saw the problem with the white backed kits the first time we saw them, I also thinks its a bit fair on the players to find their colleagues wearing effectively two different coloured kits, what colour do you look for in the split second of delivering a pass? Hopefully a bit more lunacy will go out of the window now that Boddy's SportItalia company has gone, and the kit will be chosen for its suitability, and not for personal profit.

I know it's been said before and I know the reality is the desire to sell more shirts - but it galls me when we change strip even though the opponent's strip doesn't clash.

It wasn't Dave Boddy's company, it is still going, and is owned by Tim Harris, ex Gloucester, Newport, Forest Green manager and Dave's mate. They have supplied Aldershot's kit this season amongst others. Totally agree though, it is complete madness to have what appears to be two separate shirts on, and the red/white couldn't possibly be an appropriate change if the white/blue couldn't be worn. Best reason I can think of now for getting rid of this board is to offer the chance for some logic to be applied to choice of kit!!! Doesn't take a genius to realise that the change kit has to be a radical change from the main colours. We can't wear blue and white whenever the oppo wear blue or white, as most teams in this league seem to do, so the red/black is fine for now.

Unless the opposition wear red and white, then we're back to green and yellow.

Wrong - Mr David Boddy was appointed as a Director of SWC Merchandise Ltd in October 2007. SWC Merchandise changed its name to SportItalia in December 2007. Mr David Boddy terminated his appointment as a Director on 29th May 2008, Mr Timothy Harris also resigned as a Director at the same time!!

Nevertheless, Sport Italia are still Aldershot's kit suppliers this season, regardless of who owns the company or has been a director in the past.

No one is doubting that SportItalia are Aldershots kit suppliers. But try calling them tomorrow their number is 01452 85 80 80 according to their website - don't worry, the call won't cost you a penny!

Assuming there is a next season, I hope that through the Trust we can persuade the board to get the supporters to choose the design of the next home kit. Personally, I'd like to see us wearing Nike, several clubs do so already at this level, I'm sure more people would buy a "proper" label and I like the simplicity of their designs.

Yes, let us have real traditional strips, Blue and white home and away, only changing to an alternative strip when colours clash.

And we all know why NIKE shirts are so cheap. Not sure I would support that idea at all.

I never wear anything cheap. Can't we get tweed kit? If tweed's good enough for my gamekeepers it should be good enough for the average supporter.

I dont see why the lads cant make them themselves. It would teach them a valuable life skill plus save loads of money.
In fact they could even get their mums to knit them a new kit.
