The Southern softies had a lot to say about how Worcs CCC conspired with God to get the Severn to flood so we could deny Kent the maximum points they assume they would obviously have gleaned from their trip to New Road (obviously ...after all, Kent have won twice this season as opposed to our once, so it was a foergone conclusion....naturally - Kent have been mercilessly hammering everyone in country cricket for decades..or am I dreaming?) Anyway now that it has rained a bit down there for the last couple of days and prevented any play at Canterbury and been quite nice here, should we get all Grassy Knollington about this and get on their cases about conspiracies to deny WCCC the chance to survive in CC1...and make daft appeals for points or just be sensible, accept thats life and shut up?

Now we are THE form side in cricket we should simply let our greatness be noise enough. Dignity dignity always dignity.

Yes, that is exactly what I was thinking BDS. It was said tongue in cheek obviously.
Have to say I found all this talk of Worcs trying to fiddle Kent (or any other county) out of points in poor taste when people had lost homes, businesses and even their lives.
And actually it made no sense sports-wise. Why would a team bottom of the table NOT want to play games to improve their position? And, but for one wicket in the game v Surrey, Worcs would have won the same number of games as Kent. And we have beaten Yorkshire since, who were the other lot sticking their nose in.
Thing is, when you huff and puff in a silly manner something inevitably comes back to bite you on the bum - and that is what has happened to Kent. Maybe they should have thought first.
Dignity.....

Quite. The other Counties have been rather mean spirited and parochial in the face of the impact of a serious crisis in UK terms.
The fortunes of the County Cricket Club have to be set in context but we supporters are all simply hoping that there will be a viable Club come next April. The other counties might reflect that without opponents they have no future either.
If the moaners said "Hey ECB why dont we all lend WCCC an additional £0.5M interest free for 5 years to help them through this crisis" that would be a more appropriate response in the spirit of the game.

But everyone seems to be missing the point on this one. Before Kent came up to Worcester it was clear that there w ould be no cricket at New Road. Previous games had been switched to places like Kidderminster. So why did Worcestershire go through the motions of trying to get a game on for 4 days at New Road when it was never going to happen? and why have all subsequent games been rearranged at other grounds? sometimes in different counties? The question must be, why didn't Worcestershire make any efforts to rearrange this game? Mr CG yes why would a team at the bottom of the league not want to play a game? So why was this game not rearranged for another ground? I think what must piss Kent off is trhe fact that they had to travel for 4 days with no chance of a game. Not unsimilar to when supporters of a football club travel all the way to an away game only to find the match called off and ask the question 'Why didnt they call this off earlier?'

They didn't make any efforts to rearrange the game as there was the "big" televised one-dayer on the Friday, a major moneyspinner. If they'd moved the championship game from New Road, the New Road groundstaff would have gone (with equipment) to wherever the rearranged game was. There was no way they could get everything back on the Thursday night and in place with the pitch suitable for the Friday match, and they needed the four days in Worcester to do as much as they could to prepare the ground for the one-dayer, working around the Kent fixture while it was played. Mark Newton took a gamble and it backfired. His actions have cost WCCC more than the weather alone did.

If I am right we need two more wins to clinch the title?. (or one win and two NR's).
Northants got off the mark yesterday denting Hants hopes and they are our next opponents. If we win that we must be in touching distance of our first major title for so long I cant remember.
