If I were taking over WCFC Cecil would be the first person I'd call. IF the sale of SGL goes through we'll have capital - but not enough for a decent stadium. However we could contribute to to the development of Sixways, and even if that were impossible then it would be interesting to see if he might get involved with the club anyway. At least we could eliminate his involvement.

There are two differences between BCFC and WCFC. 1) THe Board at BCFC seem to have the balls to aks the difficult questions, and get into dialogue with others, and 2) The Board at BCFC realise they need options, its not just plan A

The rec in Bath is quite possibly one of the wettest pitches in top flight rugby, IMHO it is totally unsuitable for playing football. The warriors pitch on the other hand........

Hee Hee, Didn't one of our Groundsmen resign/leave because he refused to water the pitch at JB's insistence (John Barton) and instead went to watch the cricket?
If its wet - then land drainage.
If its wet - (and its the Old Trafford mud bath) - Blame Sir Fergie

I agree with Ealing. I know Cecil is not interested at all with WCFC, but as a businessman he would surely be interested in a cash injection. I understand that he has told the Warriers that they will have to start standing on their own two feet soon. So I suggest: 1. Sell SGL for £7m 2. Forget about N. Way 3. Pay all debts - currently £2.2m?? Leaving a balance of £4.8m 4. Offer to build a stand (a modest affair to start with) and upgrade lighting, changing facilities, a bit of terracing etc on one of their training pitches at a cost of up to £2.8m 5. Place the balance of £2m in The Halifax giving £100k a year interest (income). 6. Even if Sixways charged a nominal £50k a year for the use of the ground we're still quids in. BUT we have no ground. BUT we are debt free, have a ground that we can build up in stages, car parking, training facilities, groundsmen, medical centre, no problem with tenure, AND A REGULAR NON FOOTBALL INCOME.
Cecil may not be interested in getting involved in a business that's £2m in debt but he just MIGHT be interested in a solid business proposition that would generate long term turnover for Sixways.
Just a thought!

I think BJ you have just posted one of the most sensible suggestions I have seen on this site.....
The problem would be, as tenants, would the income we were allowed to keep from Football activities be enough to keep us afloat as well as building up a 'fund' to allow us to team build in the case of gaining promotions etc

don't accuse anyone on here of being sensible. It's the last home of utter madness.

Cecil is not interested at all with WCFC not quite true, I think you will probably find he (as with a growing list of people) is not interesting in dealing with the current board.

It is, always has been, I think he's just, quite rightly, a little choosy who he works with, and the kind of people he associates with. He's not one to accomodate any clowns!!

Agree. But CD does get a revenue from WCFC - so cash flow?? providing the income stream is sustainable - not a problem.
Where has the issue of 'owning your ground' gone? This was debated at some length a few seasons back.

"Where has the issue of 'owning your ground' gone?"
.... probably with the knowledge that all we can afford after the sale is a prefab hut on Perdiswell with two plastic chairs either side of the half way line for the managers. How best can we use the less than expected profit from the sale? A cheap stadium that can't compete with the already established Rugby club for conference income etc. or use it to buy into an existing cash flow stream? Then no need to spend on all the infrastructures like creating road access; power supplies etc - that already exists at Sixways. I'd rather we had our own set up, but we just aren't going to get that the way things are shaping up,

Don't think that sharing the main pitch will happen in the foreseeable future now. The rugby club is far too established, with a reliable and good income, sharing the main pitch would be of no interest or value to the club. However a good reliable source who tells me of major transfers going on at the Rugby Club has told me that City maybe in with a shout of sharing the new Warriors training pitch across the road from the main ground. Talks are apparently in the early stages but coming along smoothly. Can't see it going down to well at the Rugby club but a good move for City if it goes ahead.
