Congratulations on them for making the decision early. We always see and hear criticism when they make the decision late, so lets give them some credit for taking the initiative.

Here's a thought then! .... City are away at Barrow soon, so to save on travelling, which the players would appreciate as they have "proper" jobs as well requiring time off, why don'y City ask Workington to play the game the day after? - the sunday? Ok, players will be abit sore from playing on the saturday, but it takes away having to travel up there midweek, having to get time off work, and even Mazey would still be able to see it! Seriously, what has the club got to lose? - we're not getting relegated, we're not going to the playoffs, and neither are Workington, so from a financial point, and the fact City are already up there, I think it makes sense! No doubt others will not though ........

That won't be possible as the last day for league matches is Saturday 26th April. All teams have to play their final matches at 3 p.m. that day.
Although promotion, play-off and relegation teams might have been decided by then there will be no exceptions allowed. There is rightfully considered to be a need for all clubs' final games to take place at the same time so that no side has a perceived unfair advantage in knowing what is required as a result. Although the result of our game won't have any significant bearing on the final league table a move to after the final Saturday won't be permitted.

That might be asking a bit much but what if the players can get enough time off to maybe play on the Thursday?

I understand that the Barrow option mooted above may be feasible with dispensation from the league, as may playing the day after Blyth. Workington have offered a Tuesday, which is no good to anyone besides them.
