The Claines lane working group is a positive move by the WCFC Board and the Worcestershire FA to make improvements to the Claines Lane site. The working group will work on making the site a more spectator friendly ground subject to cost and grants available. I would like to see better hard standing area all round the ground, a covered standing area to shelter from the elements, another set of steps to the bar area from the Droitwich Road side and portable toilets by the two stands would be a start.

I would agree with you that covered standing accommodation is required but what would a second set of steps achieve? And as for putting portaloos next to the pitch - I don't think so.

The single width paving slabs behind the goal at the foot of the bank are blocked by fans most of the time, so people going to the toilet or bar have to walk up the bank, around them.
This is why a second set of steps are needed.
For any elderly or less mobile fans who sit in the stand, going to the toilet is a long, difficult journey.

Are the portaloos going to be bolted to the floor?
There’s been many instances of this kind of thing happening.

There is already a walkway to the clubhouse and toilets. This is I believe restricted to players and officials only, but maybe that needs to be reviewed. That would solve the issue of access from the stands.

Anyone who has restricted mobility or finds walking difficult should ask one of the stewards at that corner if they can ‘take the short cut’ - our policy is to allow this. Just not everyone please and not at key match points when players officials are coming and going from the changing rooms.😊

More toilets certainly needed.Wasn't there some behind Claines Lane goal when we first played there?

Just put of interest, what ground improvements need to be done to "Claines Lane" if City are promoted to the next level? I talked to Rob at a Bamber Bridge game a few weeks ago, and he seemed to think that "Claines Lane" was OK as it is, if City were to get promoted. Can anybody on here confirm this? Thanks.

who are the The Claines lane working group, sparky you seem to be one but most dont have a clue who you are, so let us all have a list of names of the people representing us, as we are a community owned club, not people with unknown names.

Haha - thatloudbloke. That made me chuckle. I think I know who you are and, if I’m right, then you know me (although I quite enjoy the man of mystery tag). I’m afraid I’m nothing to do with the group, although I know a bit about matchday organisation… always happy to help if asked!

Paul, that would currently be - Myself Nick Jones Two WFA Representatives Luke Cox was also involved from funding contacts point of view until he stood down. Changes needed if promoted, turnstile instead of a paybooth, 100 further covered and also the grass bank would not be allowed so would have to be fenced off.

Thanks Sparky, but for those of us not up to speed what are the main differences between Grade F and Grade E. I'm guessing that City need to get up to "Grade E", if they are to go up a decision?

Yes, which basically means the work Verner describes by a certain date within the season of first promotion. We will have to have the support of the FA to do it and the money between us to fund it before we can commit to any promotion should we be in that fortunate position.

Many thanks to you - and Verner for the update information on what is needed ground work wise if City are to be promoted. Closing down the grass bank standing was also done at my (new) club Chorley. Sadly by closing down the banking all along one side, and 2/3 of behind one goal. The capacity went down by over 1,500. We were always told the grass banking would be replaced by concrete terracing - but 5 years on - nothing has changed. - Hope you have better luck at Claines Lane.

The grass bank is clearly a problem now and moving forward for any promotion. I did see in an early programme that there would be a sloping path / terrace going down from the toilet area of the main building, cut into the bank. Maybe that's the plan. Interim solution, if the bank needs fencing off, could be to move both ends / pitch down 6ft towards Claines Lane. There's loads more space at that end. Hopefully water logging won't be an issue now the duck pond is there.
27/11 Edit following today's postponement: We're gonna need a bigger moat.

Any news on the working group?
Maybe give an update in the programme or podcast.
When we first started playing at Claines, I never understood why we didn't have real goal posts. Most playing fields have them.
After today.... We really need them.
