Waterlogged pitch - now Wednesday at 7.45 instead

Today's postponement highlights to me that the WFA will need to invest in improving the playing surface at Claines Lane. With two teams playing there we will be in a very similar situation to now. There's also an issue of primacy - if this were 12 months hence which club would have had priority for Saturday - us or Raiders? The fact that Sporting were at home yesterday must have had implications for the state of the pitch this morning.

What a disappointment! I had psyched myself up for the this one - as no doubt had the players.
Still, by Wednesday both sides will know their potential opponents in the next round, and looking down the fixtures there are no giants of the non-league world left in and several sides making their first appearance in the last 16, so all to play for.

teams left in with WCFC & Coventry United

Replay teams. Deal Town FC, Binfield FC,
who would you like in the next round ?
i want to miss Sporting Khalsa especially away, but would just be pleased to be watching the lads in the next round.

I'll settle for beating Cov Utd first, don't mind who we get should we get through, though obviously a home tie or shorter trip would be preferable (Atherstone, Khalsa, Bitton or Bradford(on Avon)Town). Mind you, to win anything you have to overcome all opposition, better to see off one of the north east sides?

Let's not get carried away, we're not in the next round yet, just in the draw for the next round.

Got to be an element of doubt for this Wednesday based on the predicted rainfall from storm Brendan......probably less rain than forced the Raiders postponement.
It'll no doubt be a meagre crowd watching on a cold (and damp?) weekday evening.
Pity we couldn't have grabbed Aggborough and played last Saturday....could well have seen the 'bumper' crowd that Ash wanted?

I am astounded that our County Association is so shortsighted in having a grass main pitch at Claines Lane. I can imagine what the surface is going to be like come Xmas with so many matches on it. Have they not seen the marvellous pitch at Malvern? They should be setting the bar a bit higher.

I agree: postponements, at part-time level, force players to miss work and lead to a huge backlog of fixtures come the end of the season. Artificial pitches suffer from postponements only when there's heavy snow or the floodlights don't work, or similar events.

I wasn't at all surprised that Sunday's game was postponed, and I wouldn't be if Wednesday's was either. One of the problems of being tenants I suppose. As for Claines Lane, with that slope it gets very boggy, so I hope that they sort out the drainage, or this will happen time and again. From what I gather, as Raiders have already signed up with the Worcs FA, they are the primary tenant, and we would be the secondary tenant.
Any talk of the next round is nonsense, beating Coventry is all that counts at the moment.

When Worcester were in a higher league than Bromsgrove, Worcesterβs fixtures took priority and Bromsgrove played at least one Vase came on the Sunday after a Worcester game.

Can't see it being on tonight...the other outstanding Vase game left to finish is the Deal vs Binfield replay which is taking place this Saturday the 18th... so there's no reason our game vs Coventry won't be rescheduled for then either taking precedence over a league game, so long as the pitch is playable by then of course.

Fantastic. Most memorable game of our time at the Vic. Cov came out flying, but the lad's stuck to it and deserved the win. Wow.

What a cracking win - and having to come back from a goal down as well. Really upped our game for this one. Was getting anxious when Coventry had their best spell towards the end, but we defended for our lives and fully deserved the win. Let's have more like this!

Fantastic win, great effort throughout the team! A decent crowd for a cold January night too, with 450 there, a decent turnout from Coventry too! The supporters really did add to the occasion, it's mad what an extra 100 or so on the gate can do to the feeling around the ground. Here's hoping a few of them keep turning up for the league games now, as I saw plenty who haven't been much/at all this season there, which really was great to see!
Into the last 16 we go, and away to the giant killers. Cannot let our guard down!

Cold? It must be your age!
Seriously though a great team performance, there shouldn't be a Man of the Match as every City player played really well.
Coventry looked decent and had some chances in the second half, but we coped with everything that came our way.
We need to put the Vase to one side for a few weeks now, let's not get distracted or carried away.

After a dismal performance against Khalsa last season I finally gave up but i thought I would give it ago last night and I was impressed with the team. Letβs have more of the same please

Everything a cup tie should be. Good atmosphere, feisty game, great comeback. A special mention to Ashley Vincent who has stuck with his philosophy all season and despite early struggles and fan criticisms the players have grown into his ideas and are producing 100% whole-hearted performances. I could do without going a goal or two behind but if they do I'm confident we will always get something out of the game now.

A deserved win. Starting 4-3-3 won us the game with bodies in their box resulting in 2 Adaggio goals. Keeper Jezeph made some great saves to keep our noses in front, and Mewies is so much improved from when he first came. A very good team effort.

Same formation as every week won us the game, like it does most weeks when we are on it.
Roll on Atherstone which will be a very hard place to go

The Verner must watch every match through rose, sorry blue and white striped coloured glasses, being far more easily pleased than most fans. Setting aside whatever formation he thinks it was, " most weeks when we are on it " ?
In an average league, we are currently 10th having won 8, drawn 5, and lost 8. We have played 12 home games ( 7-3-2 ) , and 9 away games ( 1-2-6 ).
5 of our 8 wins have been against sides below us, and 7 of our 8 losses have been against sides above us. 4 of the 5 draws have been against sides below us.
What does this tell me ? We are where we should be. We're strong at home, poor away and not good travellers at all ............and we're not on it most weeks !
He is right in one thing. With our away record, Atherstone will be a very hard place to go.

I'd say that after an iffy start the team have turned a corner and are putting in better and more consistent performances and that's all you can ask for at this level.

Agree...whilst the league table doesnt lie position wise you are bang on about the upward trajectory we've seen since November in the performances and goal threat we now pose...think back to that live FA Cup game at Heather and compare that to what we're seeing now...its chalk n cheese stuff. The league is the bread n butter staple diet and I think we will keep ticking over in that because i've felt for a while now we've put an emphasis on the FA Vase..theres a similar vibe and feeling going on that we had during the two Cup runs of 2014 and 2015...maybe thats why we've been going behind in most games, its a kind of practice to gear up for getting a good Cup mentality going. ππ

Its not hard being more pleased than some of the moaners we have is it ?
Remember last season ?
Out of the FA Cup in the first game vs Walsall Wood
Out of the FA Vase in the second game vs Desborough at home...In November (Season was over).
We lost Reynolds, Jezeph and Forsyth. Who have we lost this season ? Just Birch, who has been replaced by Luke Rowe. So the moaners of last season "weve used too many players" cant complain, the challenge will be to see how many we can keep for next season and continue to build.
The performances last season were dire.
We have made more money in this years FA Cup by going 1 round better and getting TV money.
We have gone so many more rounds further in the FA Vase making more money than previous years.
Plenty of season left to go, oh....and we are going to be back in the City next year so pleased as punch with how things are going.
