Apparently Sherwood Colliery are two leagues below City. They were also one of the better sides we have seen this season. Should have been out of the game by half time as I don't think even they could work out how they were 2-2 having only created one chance, but they caused lots of problems when they had the man advantage and were a bit unlucky not to force extra time.
Yet again, City's defensive frailties exposed, and yet again the man Griffiths was involved, or not as involved as he was supposed to be. Only Gwynne will be able to explain why he two-footed the striker rather than herding him wider, and I'm not even going to get into the debate on how Alexandru and Griffiths got made monkeys of by the lively Theakstone for the second goal.
And then, at 4-2, City's own Captain Fantastic decides to stick an elbow on the 7 right under the nose of the referee. Brainless. Utterly idiotic and no amount of excuses and apologies will make up for dropping his team and club in the brown and smelly. You simply can't do that sort of thing.
So Snape, using all his years of tactical acumen, brings on Josh the mercurial and runs the risk of us effectively being down to nine men given his propensity for wasting possession and not working, and then brings Baldwin on, who has exactly the same problem. To be fair to them both they have put a shift in today and worked hard for their team.
Man of the match for me again today was Nathan Hayward, covered every blade of grass several times and while he wasn't at his most accurate passing wise, his sheer will to win got him through the game.
Sherwood? Decent side, young and hard-working and would easily be top six in our league.

Baldwin came on as Reynolds looked like he had picked up an injury. Sarmento came on for Griffiths and Jamie Smith went to left back. That left Mole, Dayus and Fedotovs all i understand from youth teams so the most experienced subs came on. Thats what happens when you have players suspended, injured and cup tied.....bare bones stuff

Sam Bowen got sacked by John Barton for a red card elbow in a cup tie. Discipline in this team is deplorable. Have lost count of the red cards now. The only red card that is needed is for “Yourstuckwithme” 😊

3 reds in 3 games isn’t it. And Hughes was looking like being another red towards the end. Poor defending, same as always. We won’t win this league, or the vase.

Birch was a complete clown. It’s seems that every red card City get is for something blatantly a sending off offence. The team aren’t taking games seriously. I know it feels like it, but this isn’t Sunday League. Stop f**k**g the team over with idiotic behaviour.
I would have praised Hughes this week, as he put in one of his better performances. A decent goal and a pretty great assist for Reynolds’ goal. He ruined it by acting the fool in the closing stages of the game though. He really needs to keep his temper in check. He should really be setting a better example.
I would say that Birch should be reprimanded, but what exactly is Hughes supposed to say to him the way he behaved on the pitch today? And Snape’s just as much of a fool for allowing it to happen.
I’m starting to think that poor discipline is just as big of a problem as poor defending for City. Defending was of course, terrible once again. Griffiths should be playing 5 a side for his local pub’s team. Even this tinpot league is far beyond his level.
Yeah, it was a win, and actually quite a fun game, but the quality of football was poor.
P.S. - The poor performance today didn’t overshadow the respect shown during the minute’s silence for Paul Curtis. You could have heard a pin drop. Great show by all at the match today.

To be fair there were a few flash points today, pretty sure one or two of the visitors had a decent line in wind-ups going on, particularly the 7 and 9. The 9 got involved early on with Bert and Gwynne, then obviously said something to Nathan before the first flashpoint, and then actually hit his own player (14) during that handbags moment. No idea what the 7 said when he intentionally ran into Brad but it worked a treat as he got the reaction he wanted, hook line and sinker. They weren't as niggly as some teams with leaving the foot in and squealing like greased pigs whenever there was contact, but they were a little on the snide side, they knew who to and how to wind people up. Quite impressed with the 3.

Didn't see Birch commit his foul, so was completely mystified why he got sent off.
A typical cup-tie and a very nerve-racking one at that. Hayward, as stated above, put in a huge shift and would be my MOM. I think I heard Reynolds say he was injured and that's why he came off.
Good job we got that fourth goal.

Yes unfortunately. Not what you'd expect from the captain. Then again nor is two red cards by October. Think they call it banter these days.

Perhaps we expect too much of our players. Most will make mistakes during the course of a game. This is level 5 football. But it's not unreasonable to expect them to be able to avoid getting sent off. Three red cards in succession is pretty awful, it's putting added pressure on your teammates and making our chances of progress much harder.
Sherwood would be perfectly capable of holding their own in the MFL Premier incidentally, based on yesterday's performance.
As for us, unless we improve we'll be out of the Vase as soon as we come up against a higher ranked side than Sherwood, especially if it's away from home.

This is completely unacceptable from a player, especially if he's the captain. Imagine a fan shouting out that kind of racial slur at a game? He'd be banned from games for a long period of time surely? Attachments:

The reason I didn't post a screenshot, is because I'd rather not see this kind of language on this board. Totally unacceptable behaviour for everyone involved in the club, especially the captain. Secondly, the way he stormed off and threw the captain's armband showed disrespect, even if he was upset at the decision. Thirdly, why is everything a racial slur these days? (I'm not condoning this particular language) ,but, if you read the list of ethnic slurs, everyone is basically racist.

Well, now we know why Tyler left the club! Thanks for letting us know what the players' opinions are. We can all draw our own conclusions on what the Chairman's reaction will be........nothing!

I’d assume it was just banter. Even so, Birch should be relieved of the Captain’s armband. Very unprofessional behaviour.
I missed him throwing the armband off as he came off the pitch. If true, the guy’s a punk. My opinion of him has come way down.

If he was a fan, shouting that at a game, what do you think would be the clubs reaction?

It’s a straightforward case of get rid soonest. No matter what my view on the way the Club is run I am certain that none of the Board wish the club to be associated with anything like this. Let’s hope they act with good sense as they did in the case of fan ban imposed recently.

One thing Heeley realised is that home based players were more interested in pissing up, that's why he never picked local player.
He was right.
Brad Birch should be sacked, disgrace to the club. Just read what he TWEETED to Tyler, what thick idiot he his ....

Btw, Birch’s tweet hasn’t been deleted. If he said it in the heat of the moment, the least he could do was take it down afterwards.

The post should not be deleted - he wrote it.
The club has little option in my opinion. Brad Birch has let himself down on the pitch with two red cards before the end of October meaning at least 7 games missed through suspension, plus this idiotic social media post.
There's a reason why he's never gone higher in football, and we're seeing it now - he appears to be brainless.
This is totally unacceptable behaviour, especially as club captain, and he should be shown the door now. He's been given an opportunity which he seems determined to throw away. The Board must act decisively.
