Its all over Hinckley 2 - City 4 Well done - 3 points from the first two games isn't such a bad return given the opposition.

Sounded like we got a bit edgy in the 2nd half, thankfully we got the 4th late on and killed 'em off a good 3pts me thinks.

An excellent result to bounce back after Saturday. Methinks the league will be hard to predict this year.

Great result at one of last years play off teams. A much needed confidence boost after Saturday. Up and running!

Yes, I'm glad to be proved wrong. After Saturday I feared the worst. Well done everyone.

Took Hinckley apart first half with stunning play. 3 up front - Wilding holding up and distributing superbly, but Danks the star - superb energetic performance. Wing-backs and Nwadike pushing forward well also, with Macca making a great run for the first, and a couple of set-piece finishes from Danny Hodnett (head) and Macca (volley). Then Hinckley twigged we didnt have a centre-half taller than 5'6 and we were under the cosh. No-one would have been surprised if Hinckley had equalised, and nor could they really have complained on the balance over the full 90 minutes. Then Danks pops up with a goal reminiscent of Gascoigne against Scotland.
Plenty of woo hoos at the Marstons.

have to agree with you andy, i was getting worried at 2-3 we just resorted to hoofing it out whenever possible, it worked, a cheeky flick over the defenders head by danks and just slotted it in at the near post with a slight deflection off the keeper. Nick came on near the end to give us his usual celebration to the delight of the travelling supporters. Nice to see all the boys stayed out at the end to applaud us but most importantly, 3 points!

Good performance last night, Great goal by Danks to kill the game. I thought that second half we were going to throw it all away, Our set piece defending is shocking, goalkeeper and five defenders and no-one will take any responsibility. Now conceded three goals in two games from free headers, (could easily of been more!!). Nwadeke (my Man of Match) played higher up the pitch than Saturday and looked better for it. Adam Webster seems to of been struggling in both matches to date However, an away win and four goals, it'll do me

Its going to be a hard season if we have to score three to win a match. It'll be fun if we do it. 20 goals in 3 CN matches last night. If that could continue it would help everyone to get increased crowds.

What a difference 48 hours makes! Last night we grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck right from kick-off and Danks (who tormented their defence all night and looks on fire at the moment) unselfishly squared the ball to Macca, who simply had to stroke it home. The second goal (credited on the Conference website to Webster) was headed home from a Clegg free-kick by Danny Hodnett, rising high above anyone else.
After Hinckley pulled one back City decided to get another. Another Clegg free-kick, from almost exactly the same position as the previous one, was scuffed along the ground (they'll be telling us this was a training ground routine next) and from the resulting goalmouth melée Macca again appeared to stab the ball home.
It was a nervy second-half once Hinckley had pulled it back to 3-2 (? What was the City defence doing when H took a quick corner; they certainly didn't appear to be paying attention to what was happening). Any moment you expected H to equalise, but then Danksi popped up with that individual piece of skill, flicking the ball over the defence then running on to it himself and skinning the goalie; what a time to score!
But there were performances all over the park last night and all played their part. It was a joy to be a City supporter on a night like that. Suddenly the world seems a better place.

great performance last night, especially first half! full of pace, power, and intent! Danks was fantastic, as was wilding... good performances all round.. on another point, lets not forget that last night the age of our defence was: hodnett : 20 gill : 20 clarke : 23
so i think at times this season, we will have moments of being under pressure etc, however we still have smudge to come back in, and also shab out injured! last night we didnt have an out and out center half playing, and i still think we defended very well most of the game!
5 or 6 points out of the next 3 games would be a good return?? Burscough Kettering Telford

There's no reason why we can't take all nine points from those games, two of them are newly promoted sides , and Kettering are as flakey as any other side at the beginning of the season. Of course we could always end up with nill points!! but the last two games will have given Preecey a lot of good info about how we should be approaching games, we've got to commit bodies forward in midfield and playing one of the strikers just off (probably Webster) gives that attacking option with Macca working box-to-box. If we sit back in midfield we 'll be in trouble though. We have to get supply up to the front men, and give them the support they need too, so no Jai Stanley style of admiring the pass, the midfielders have got be prepared to get forward to support the pass. Macca and Webster certainly do that!

Indeed the title to one of those comments was
'Best ever goal at the Marston's?'
OK, they havent been there long, but it is a measure of the quality of the goal when the oppo fans are predisposed to talk of it in those terms.

The City formation is a very effective one away from home. It is at home where our season will be decided. When we start scoring 3's and 4's at home and winning then we will be force to be reckoned with.

Playing 3 strikers and Wardy at wing back just makes so much difference to the attacking threat and the momentum which showed the difference between Monday and Saturday. Note to AP Danny is not a wing back!!
