Today's match is potentially our most important game of the season. Anyone looking forward to it? Or are we resigned to our fate?

If the Kiddy and Fylde games cancel each other out, then it's down to this game and FCUM. Gainsborough have it easier in my opinion

Well that looks like it. Where do we go from here? The club now need to look at where we're now going because it's now looking grim. We lost against a fake club, and I feel really frustrated. Suppose it's what we expect, itsbwhat uoubfetbehen you don't have a goal scorer

We did have a goalscorer, and I'm sure that we woud not be in this situation had he not been released. And to this day, no-one, supporters or shareholders, have been given a reason why Lee Hughes, along with every other player was allowed to leave the club so suddenly. A disgracefully bad decision by the Board, followed by the usual lack of any respect for fans by communicating what was going on. You can't fault the players left at the club , and you can't fault the management, but the situation we are in was totally avoidable.

That's a spot on assessment I suspect the Board will be happy if we get automatically relegated as it can be used as a partial reason for probable further demotion. Their decision making, when they have actually made a decision, has been truly awful. But the communication has been lamentable, showing utter disrespect for the fans, players and management.

Even if they'd made everyone available EXCEPT Lee Hughes, we'd still have been ok now. And if money was an issue, why didnt they just put that 5 grand they paid for whoever it was they bought from Halifax into Hugheseys pocket? When you've got a goalscorer and you're the wrong end of the table, its obvious, you hang on to him. and when that goascorer is also a talisman, who motivates everyone on and off the pitch at the club, you'd surely be crazy to even consider saving a few grand by offloading him?

Jem Pitt is spot on. Having seen our failure to convert chances yet again today, Lee Hughes was the one player we had to keep whatever the cost. It wasn't that he was asking for more money, it was just the Board apparently in a sunshine moment, realising that we're losing money every week. Hughes may have been our highest paid player for all I know, but what I do know is that he was our only match winner and had to be kept at all costs. Critical financial problems didn't just appear in February 2017, they've been there ever since Boddy signed the Careys contract in 2008. Hampson and Layland have been on the Board since Nov 2008 so why the Board panicked in February I don't know, as how much of a financial difference will it have made ?
The Board wanting relegation is an interesting issue. At today's match I approached Anthony Hampson and asked him directly whether the Club had applied for voluntary relegation. He uhmed and aahed, and referred me to the football secretary Joe Murphy who was sat next to him, but who was talking to someone else. Undeterred, I asked Mr Hampson again, and whilst not saying a categorical yes, he certainly didn't deny it, and told me that the club had enquired about it, and that the running costs below our level are much cheaper mentioning specifically the cost of stewarding. He also said that if the club was to continue, then it couldn't afford to play at our current level mentioning that we are competing with the likes of Fylde and Salford with full time weekly wage bills of 20 k a week. I asked him who did he think would want to watch a team play lower levels down who've chosen relegation, mentioning the 500 Stockport fans last week, and he repeated his previous answer. He told me that the Board had a big decision to make.
I also spoke to a couple of people ( I won't name them ) who believe me are very close to the workings of the Club. Both said that they have been kept completely in the dark as to what's going on, and what's happening.

The scandal of mismanagement didn't start with Boddy signing the atrocious contract with Carey's, it started well before that. Why was the social club run at a colossal loss year after year? Why were players signed for inflated prices who turned out to have long term injuries or were alcoholics? Why weren't proper accounts kept? It was to run up a debt so huge that the only way to pay it was to sell our beloved SGL. The sad story coming from Torquay echos this sorry story to the letter. No doubt the events are and will be repeated around the country.
I'm grateful that I lived in an era when our great city had a football team and ground to be proud of. We've fallen foul of a despicable deceit.
We need a clean start and shake off this mob once and for all. It's time for Worcester City II.

Sorry to say it, but the stewarding costs are same at any level and the numbers wouldnt dramatically change either, the SAG determine the numbers and is done on a stadiums layout and not what league we are in !

Funny, I was thinking the same. Nice to see our Board of Directors are as on the ball as ever! Though to be fair to Joe Murphy, its a bit off for the Chairman to refer such questions about the future direction of the business to the football secretary! Thats a question for him to answer, and yet again, he has failed those who expect guidance from him. You were privileged to get him so close to you alwaysnextyear! He tends to run away from most of us!!

To be honest, depending what league we are in and how many big clubs with potential segregated games you could do it on the minimum number every week.
Also changing start times could help cut down on costs a little etc
But until anything gets confirmed either way nothing can really be looked at

In case anyone misread what I wrote, I spoke solely to Mr Hampson as Joe Murphy was talking to someone else. Funnily enough, when Mr Hampson mentioned lower stewarding costs, I thought then that they were based on the stadium as opposed to what league you play in, but assumed that he knew more about it than me !
noboddy - you are correct that the mismanagement has gone on for well over 20 years ( I've written many a post about the football club writing off the 38 k Social Club debt, the lack of AGM's, the lack of individual years final accounts, the cobbled together rubbish presented at the EGM's of 2008 and 2016, the complete lack of financial control, the amnesia of ex Directors encountered by Celia Adams when she brought the books up to date, the transactions around the Careys money, etc etc etc ! ) , but it was the signing of the Careys contract, and the sale of our only asset with no back up plan other than a fag packet wishlist, which has hastened our demise to its inevitable conclusion.

Ive banged my head against the same brick wall about this before !
This taken from the Green Guide to Spectator Safety -
"Staffing numbers will vary considerably at each ground, according to its size and configuration, and the nature of the event. However, experience has shown that by ensuring the availability of staff for the following categories, management should meet the needs of most sports grounds, matches or events:
A. supervisory staff: for example, the deputy safety officer, chief steward(s) and supervisors
B. static posts: for example, crowd monitoring points, exits, activity area perimeter gates, escalators and other strategic points or areas
C. mobile posts; typically a ratio of one steward per 250 of the anticipated attendance
This ratio should be increased to up to one per 100 of the anticipated attendance where the risk assessment shows a need for a higher level of safety management, for example at a high profile event or where there are large numbers of children or where there is a likelihood that large numbers of spectators will not comply with safety instructions.
D. specialist stewards: for example, for areas used by children or spectators with disabilities
E. additional stewards: if needed for deployment in particular circumstances or for particular events.
Other staff, such as car park attendants and turnstile operators, may also be deployed for stewarding and other safety duties, provided that the conditions set out in Section 4.3 are met.
However, unless they form a recognised part of the safety management structure, individuals such as members of groundstaff, security guards, hospitality staff and commissionaires should not be counted among the safety staff.
The number of stewards occupying static posts and the location of these posts together with the number of mobile posts should be clearly recorded in writing in a stewarding plan. The number of stewards provided should not fall below the minimum number identified in this plan.
Further information on stewarding is provided in Chapter 4."
So examples...SGL had 6 static points, 4 / 5 exits, and statics in main stand.
We then had to employee a steward as a static on brookside (7) (SAG request). Further stewards were then there as mobiles....so 1 to every 250 spectators, back when we could easily get between 800 and 1,000. Most weeks we had between 12 and 15...few extra as the club used to utilise stewards to charge supporters for sitting down.
Kiddy was an increase in stewards and we had no choice because of the layout of the ground, most weeks we had 20 or more.
This season at Bromsgrove weve only hit the 20 mark once or twice in total, 1 of those being Kiddy on Boxing Day.
Static positions at Bromsgrove are x3 exit gates and the same steward can cover their pitchside gates, we have a static covering main stand and tunnel below (tunnel steward doubles up as our fire steward, again separate at Aggborough).
We then have the mobile posts covered.
Unfortunately changing leagues wont change the layout of the ground.
But changing opening times and having people starting later will help, going down may see crowds crumble meaning less mobile stewards needed.
But taking all that into account the rates for Minimum Wage and Living Wage go up this month, straight away will be costing us more !

Did Hampson expand on what he could possibly have meant by this ?
Maybe it's just me, but renting a ground, being in the relegation zone with a game to go, having followed up a 155 k loss in 2016, with another likely to be nearer 200 k in 2017, sure isn't where I want the club to be !

Overheard conversation in the pub yesterday, that allegedly our wonderful board have held secret meetings with the council about having a ground on some land a bit further north than the doomed Nunnery Way debacle!!
Sounds like the Trust have been asked to withdraw the Perdiswell planning application so this idiotic idea can progress. Sounds like a council stalling plan to allow time for the club to go bust!!

Sounds like the Trust have been asked to withdraw the Perdiswell planning application so this idiotic idea can progress. Sounds like a council stalling plan to allow time for the club to go bust!! Sounds like a classic bloke down the pub told me story. There's no truth in that one, the Chairman was interviewed by Hereford and Worcester not too long ago and said that he was 100% behind the Perdiswell plan and that it was the only hope for the club. Not even Anthony Hampson could be as stupid as to say that to the press and be having secret meetings in the background. And as for asking for the Perdiswell plan to be withdrawn, even Hampson would never do that. If there is any truth in this one, then not only would Hampson be toast but so would any councillors who were involved especially those around Warndon.
