Ok, its the big K.O on Saturday.
Today's WN is reporting a number of injury worries, as follows:
"However, Preece may have to rely on several fringe players stepping up to the plate as a number of first-team regulars are struggling with injuries. Chris Smith, Shabir Khan, George Clegg and Nick Colley are all doubtful for the season's curtain-raiser, while Shaun Findlay has been definitely ruled out."
So, one or two may come through, but in the worst case that they dont (and I also believe that Troy may be out), it leaves us with a 12 man squad, probably in 4-3-3 formation (?)
Danny
Clarke Raps Hodnett, Burlo
Ward, Macca, Gary Walker
Webby, Danks and Craig
On the bench - AP
Would be pretty sure that under such circumstances a couple of triallists might be brought onto the bench.
Clearly, tighter than anyone would have wanted for the first game, but the week may bring some brighter news on recoveries from injury.
Hope we can steer clear on Saturday, given that we go straight into another tough one at Hinckley on Monday night.

i think this post sums things up at the moment. We havent played a single league game yet, and are alredy strugglinh with injuries, and re-occurances and new injuries are guaranteed in competitive league games. IMO, AP needs to sign 2 decent players and another 1 or 2 squad players.
Hopefully with smudge back soon we will have a very good back 4 (danny, clarke, rap, smudge) as a basis to win games from.
However for Hyde, i would go for
......................................danny.................................
...........clarke.....................gill................hodnett.......
ward.............nwadike.............walker..............burley
....................................Danks..................................
..................Webster................Wilding.....................
with danks playing just off the front two, he will be able to feed off wilding and webster who will hold the ball up, and also get the ball deep to turn and run at people, who make runs beyond the front two. I would probably go for a 3-5-2 formation, as its what the players have been used to in pre season.
however a 4-4-2, i would agree with andy, apart from changing Clarke to center half, and Hodnett righ back

I wouldnt expect any new (long-term) signings, wonderfull. But I expect to see more than one triallist on the bench for the next week or two.

I would have thought that even the most one eyed fan saw last year that Webster , Danks and Wilding couldn't play together, and the negative effect playing all three had on the side. The successful Wilding and Danks partnership was broken up against Welling to accommodate Webster, and the season went rapidly downhill thereafter. None of the 3 are by any stretch of the imagination midfield players, so it's Wilding and Danks starting for me, and Webster on the bench. With the players at SGL it should be 4-4-2 everytime.

One-eyed or not, if Webster, Danks and Wilding dont all start on Saturday, and just two of them do, who are the other 9 injury-free players??

andy is right, whether they can play together or not is irrelevant, they just have to all be on the same pitch with this tiny squad.

Regarding the injuries, I am sure that we will muster a team that can play 4-4-2 effectively.Tiny squad ? And the purpose of a reserve team is ?

Have we got a reserve team? I thought that was disbanded some years ago

We play reserve team matches in a fairly small league and some cup games (like the Worcs Sen Urn) but I am not sure if that is really the same thing as having a reserve team like we used to with the reserves palying at home on a Saturday when the first team were away. I expect we just dont have enough players to do that given that the first team squad is 16 or 17 alone these days.
