BW was no fairy, neither did I say HE (BW) ponced about. I specifically said "someone poncing about"
My point is that to succeed this season, we DO NOT require some Fancy Dan strutting about the midfield (whether in a pink ballet dress or not).
Technical ability - Yes Creative passing - yes Quick - yes
But definitely not a player "who can put his foot on the ball and control the game" they just don't exist at this level - and if they did, they'd soon be clogged to pieces.

Darren Middleton could have done that job over the last couple of years for us. Technical Ability - undoubted Creative Passin - Yes, made him look an idiot when others wern't on the same wavelength, Glen hoddle had the same problem Quick - actually he was deceptively fast as he showed against us for MG a coupld of years ago

If 1977 were 2007, I dont think Barry Williams would be playing at Worcester. A class above almost everyone else in non-league football, and an important factor (but not the only one) why we did well back then. But not a player who would be available to us now. He was of his era, and that era is longer with us.

I think he would have been playing at Worcester in 2007, if he had a mate like nobby Clark as his manager. One thing Barry totally lacked was ambition, thank goodness.

His main deficiency was that he couldnt tackle an ice cream. He was, however, a very talented goalscoring midfield cum forward. If he had physical presence he would have played league football.

He had his chance and he took it, top goalscorer when given that role, and probably the most creative player we've seen for a few years. I don't agree that he didnt have physical presence as he was very difficult to shake off the ball. Sure he couldn't tackle. Glen Hoddle had the same problem too.

Middleton? Best technical footballer I have ever seen at this level, at least one who hadn't had a long league career before coming to City anyway. Should have been a top professional.

Blimey, the nonsense has started earlier than ever this year ! Whilst difficult to equate eras, real quality will always shine through. Barry Williams would carry our current midfield - he scored 30 goals + in a season from centre midfield on his own, more than our current midfield managed last year added together. Oh by the way, he was hard as nails as well. A class apart. Darren Middleton - best technical footballer ? I have truly read it all now. He couldn't lace the boots of Lionel Martin or Barry Lowe to name but two. As for mentioning him in the same sentence as Glenn Hoddle ? Similar hairstyles maybe ! As for any postings about anything to do with Shabir Khan, I'm amazed anyone can have seen enough of him to form any view due to his dreadful unjury record and fragile composition. Best player the City treatment room has ever seen more like ! Roll on the League matches and views based on meaningful matches.

What nonsense??
Mids was the right player, in the right team at the wrong time.
BW would be spending most of his time suspended if he was playing today.
Shabir....sorry, gonna be umpopular (again) but he's a lightweight. Put him on the pitch and you can see the heads drop. He's gotta bulk up as he just gets pushed and shoved around and looks all bluster. Prove me wrong!!
Accountability - desire - discipline - creativity
these are the attributes I look for. And last season was a shambles with too many of the team hiding from the reality facing them after November....and the crazy tactics and shape employed.
