Decent performance in the first half - looked the better side, to be honest. Wholesale changes after about 70 mins. Goal conceded from what looked at a distance like a misplaced back-pass. Shabs picked up a knock on his calf and had to go off after about 40 minutes.
Yeovil were mainly composed of trialists, but trialists at that level are still pretty decent.

Thanks A.
Did Chris Smith play any part? I assume not after yesterday worrying WN report that he might not be fit for the start of the season with an injury carried over from last season.
Was there a crowd?

i think city will be fantastic to watch this season. we look like a team full of pace, and adventure now.
AP must be pleased at this stage, as we look fitter in each game, we are creating numerous chances, and opportunities, and are looking well organised in defence.
Alot of positives last night. The only worry is Shab and Smudge! Hopefully these are sorted within the next two weeks and they have occured early rather than too late.
Last night, i think we saw that Ryan Clarke, Emeka Nwadike and Rapinder Gill could be 3 very good signings for the club.
cant wait for the big kick off now!

Thanks.
Another quite poor attendance.
Is it the £10 or the floods?
£10 seems a lot to me to watch a practice match. Do ST holders get in free for these games?

Like Wonderfull, I thought City looked very good for the first 45 last night. Shame none of the chances was put away.
But in addition to the concerns over Shabs and Smudger, we also have to be worried surely about Craig, Nic Colley and Shaun Findlay.
I fear we might struggle early on if numbers get thinner.

ST holders do not get in for free and I think the £10 may well be putting off a few people. For me it's been a combination of flooding and work which has so far stopped me from getting to any of the pre-season games. I can already see that the only pre-season game I have any hope of getting to is v Stockport Shame, I was especially looking forward to seeing City beat F*r**t

Regardless of where we finish in the league, we are in for some cracking games along the way and you would think that with this crop of players we would win or draw more than we will lose. I know money is tight but Preecey doesnt half pull some rabits from the hat when it comes to signings. Bring it on!

Agree WH. Preecey has produced some excellent signings to date.
The question is at what cost?
I believe the 2006 accounts have been filed at Companies House for some weeks. They cover th epriod to May 2006 - which includes our Cup run / MOTD appearance - and the Club has made a profit - albeit a tiny one. Worryingly the debt at May 06 is largely unchanged from the previous year.
If that was the case after the cash boost from the cup run (which wouldnt have been as profitable as people might imagine due to extra costs such as policing bonuses etc) where does that leave us after last season when the squad was larger?
I have no answers nor do I wish them. It really means that more than ever we must get behind the Club in whatever way we can.
With or without a deal for a new ground it is the most vital season in our history.

I think £10 for adults and £5 kids is a big turn-off. Myself and some of my family have stayed away because of the expense. A couple of quid less for adults and kids for free would definately have meant for more people through the turnstiles. Mr. D.B. should think long term, not just cash today!

I suspect Mr B would view 'cash today' as a means of ensuring the long term and I think I would have to agree with him.

The shining star for me was Macca (Emeka Nwadike - which, of course, Captain Crazy failed miserably to pronounce correctly). Rarely misplaced a pass, won all sorts of balls he had no right to, looks as if he will be a real menace at corners and free-kicks. Ryan Clarke looked pretty strong too; the only disappointment for me was that we didn't score, when we created quite a few chances.
I think the weather has contributed to the poor attendances, but - yes - £10 is a bit much.

I have to be honest and say that i have only seen the one freindly, vs Evesham, and seeing the No. of changes, ( which I know HAS to happenin pre-season), I thought the charge of £10 for a freindly way over the top! I agree with Mossyboots that maybe 7 quid for adults and kids free would have put a few more on the gate - I support City through and through, but with the school holidays and things at this time of the year, 15 quid for me and the lad is too steep .... I think they made a bad call there!

Yes £10 is a bit much but this argument goes on every year and the club really dont have to care about it too much. They've got a choice, take £10 a head from a hardcore of fans who'll whinge and moan, but then once the season starts they simply put up and shut up. Or they charge less and gamble on the hardcore fans plus a further number of interested people who may or may not in the future come down to more games. Do the math - If 500 pay £10 each then thats £5000 income If 500 pay £5 each then thats £2500 income You'd need to double the crowd to get the same income and could they guarantee that they would double the crowd? Of course with only 264 turning up then the income was a lot lower, but would twice that number have definitely turned up if the price was lower? Mancunian is correct, unfortunately supporters have to be seen as income providers and the club works on the fact that they need the cash today and the same old hardcore of fans will moan and groan, but will always pay. You are right Mr Blackpole, £7 for adults and kids for free would have put more through the turnstiles, but it probably wouldnt have brought in any more income and that quite frankly is all that matters to the football club.

Doubling the crowd would generate more income one way or another from programmes souvenirs and catering (although I realise that not all catering revenue goes direct to the Club).
It is a really difficult call but charging first team match prices for a meaningless friendly is simply not value for money.
I can't believe that a season ticket doesnt allow entry? May be that has to do with payments to the opposition?

Mr Dragonstander, what you say is right but the gamble is on the crowd doubling. If only a similar number turn up at a lower price, then the club can hardly put out an announcement over the tannoy that the expected higher crowd hasnt turned up so can the rest of you pay a further £3 or £5 to make up the difference. Its easier and safer to just charge the higher prices and take the complaints on the chin I can't believe that a season ticket doewsnt allow entry either, maybe the club could be a bit creative here and sell discounted season tickets inside the ground after paying the £10 to get into a friendly? Buy a season ticket at a friendly and get your £10 back. Then go into the rest of the friendlies FOC, at least the club will then have taken a whole seasons revenue for that person upfront.

I wonder how many would have turned up if it was free entry?
That would be interesting!

Yes it would Mr Dragonstander. It would be interesting to see if the club made one friendly a £1 entry (so a nominal charge, unlikely to put anyone off going) just how many would then go. I still doubt that it would be more than 1000 and possibly Ealings figure might be closer. Even though it isn't value for money, I think the club has to stick it out at £10 a friendly and grin and bear the slingshots. Come mid August no one will remember the cost of friendlies as we start a new season.

While someone like me would pay £10 to watch City play any game, most passing supporter won't attend a game where there's nothing at stake.

Quite right OB, once the season starts, I'll forget about the £10 fee, (not that I've paid it), but at the forum the other week, DB and AP said they'd like to see some of those 4000 that came vs Huddersfield come back and have another look - my point is £10 doesn't really encourage that , does it?

I don't think it's the tenner price, I think it's the opposition. If man utd/chelsea or any other premier league team were coming to st georges lane there would be a few more supporters turning up.

Yes, over 1,000 turned up for the Sheffield United game last year.
