An undisclosed fee ? I'm amazed that the Board feels that we are rich enough to pay any fees for players, and that we need more players. We have the biggest and deepest squad I can remember for years, and I dread to think what the wage bill is. By my reckoning we have 25 players signed on plus Boot on loan. Are we that cash rich, or are some players being released ?
I think that we've got ( i know a few are out on loan )
3 Goalkeepers - Boot, Draper,Ross 7 Defenders - Weir, Sharpe, Hutchison, Smith, Gallinagh, Oji, Morris 7 Midfielders - Jackman, Gater, Waldron, English, Fitzpatrick, Nelson-Addy, Keane 9 Forwards - Lee Hughes, Bates, Chilekwa, Olukanmi, Bishop, Murphy, Craig, Steele, Connor Hughes

We also have Micah Evans and James Chambers to add to that list

What little I have seen of Joe Fitzpatrick I have been highly impressed and I can't understand (a) why he hasn't featured more and (b) why we should let him go.
I have rarely seen him waste a pass. Strange decision.
Does that mean he can play AGAINST us in the up-coming home game with Telford?

The days of us paying fees for players should have ended >20 years ago.

I would've thought the objective would be to steer clear of relegation and then drive the budget down far as as possible
On the player himself - to paraphrase a mate of mine who's a Halifax fan: flashes of great play, not much in between

Not a clue on this new winger, but I doubt the fee will be much. We did pay a fee for Heeded the first time around too, I believe - so it's not like it's the first time.
Welcome to the club, hopefully he is another Hughes that can score for fun.

Fitzpatrick leaving is absolutely criminal, he should be starting every game IMO. We have basically strengthened a rival and weakened ourselves. And yet still Junior English is here...
Guessing we are going back to playing wingers though, despite the diamond working so well for us thus far.
I don't really understand the squad shake up, we have more than enough to keep us up as is so incurring additional costs for limited gain is not a very sensible choice IMO.

There's plenty more areas of the pitch we require strengthening in we now have Keane, Steele, Evans, Murphy, as well as C. Hughes who can play wing with Olukanmi on loan and Elija I'm not even sure what the situation is. Meanwhile we have one right back. Pretty much one left back part from Keane able to cover there.

I would imagine Keane will drop back to his natural left back now we have Hughes in, maybe Tyler will then move to RB and Gallinagh to the bench. Murphy isn't really a winger, more a striker deployed there, he didn't play on the wing for Walsall or Kiddi, he's technically being played out of position as is Keane and Steele. Chilekwa must have left without telling anyone, and Nathan is on loan at Leamington, so really Evans and Hughes are our only "natural" wingers we have at the moment!

As far as I know Carl had only ever paid a transfer fee for one player before today. That was a "nominal" fee to Stourbridge for Geddes when we signed him first time, as stated above.

Well I guess we are at least showing some ambition by going out and trying to improve the team. Let's see how we shape up over the coming games.

I suspect having the day off tomorrow will help, with the players able to work together in midweek training before the Telford game to sort out positions and so on. Carl must have an idea for formation which will no doubt become clear to us next week. The expectations preseason were to avoid the drop, we're now looking like that's fairly easy to achieve, and midtable is realistic. Is it perhaps some very ambitious plan to sneak into the playoffs with the squad changes? Maybe that is the plan everyone has been wanting to know!

Very good shout, if we can start taking points off teams in the top half of the league we could push on

Carl has had those thoughts all season to aim for playoff's, as per my conversation with him at Leamington, when i said looks like we could finish mid table with this squad & Carls reaction was *** etc we are going for playoffs, that was the ambition i & most supporters want, yes we had an indifferent start but now they are on the front foot, & yes i would love to see us get to playoffs...

We would need to find some consistency, particularly against those higher in the table. If I am right Ryan Boot's loan period(s) can't extend beyond 93 days, so we need to be looking at another stopper (unless we are going to rely on Nick Draper getting fit).

Play offs? What?
We can't even afford the playing budget for National North, it's ruining us. Don't even think about play offs / promotion.
Is everyone in some kind of mass denial?

I'm not ! Carl and Snapper do a great job all in all, but a mid table survival is my optimistic hope for the season, plus a run in the FA Trophy. Play offs are a mile away.
As for the budget, based on previous years we'll be losing at least another 120 k off the 500 k we started the season with ?
The Board are leaving the imaginary Plan B a bit late.

Was that a bonfire night reference perhaps? I see your angle to be fair would a promotion help save the club?

Club's dying. Why not go out with a bang? Why do you say that? It's not just you, lots of people seem to think the club is dying, it's not. Worse case scenario? - our days of National North are coming to an end in a few years time, so what? Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have a saying, it's also displayed on the hoardings at Molineux - "This is our love and it knows no division." I'd like to think that City fans have the same ethos....

Well we have gone off topic a bit here!
For clarity when I suggested it might be a plan for us to get promoted, it didn't mean I supported the idea, as much as it would be nice in the short term to see us win a few more games.
Say in 3 years time we're still in the National North, still in exile, still running at a sizeable loss, but the money has run out - what then? I suspect we would probably fold and a phoenix club will emerge - but that's not WCFC, that's a different beast. As much as I don't want the club to die, I think it's a bit blind of someone to say that it isn't, when over the last few years in particular we have seen the sale of the clubs only real asset, huge losses, not much left in the coffers to build a new ground and no plans that we know of to save the club.

I totally agree with Cloud, its really disappointing to see so called supporters saying that a new incarnation of WCFC would not be WCFC. Do you think Aldershot Town fans feel the same? And Hereford fans? No, they support the efforts of their community and make sure that they do what they can to keep football relevant in their towns. I bet every single Hereford FC fan associates fully with Ronnie Radford, and the win over Newcastle, its part of their heritage, and they aren't that fickle to say "Its not HUFC" Why, even Dudley Tyler was at the last game, it will always be the same club, just a different constitution, and what a fantastic job their fans have done of making the transition, thank goodness they had the courage to act and make the change instead of propping up the failing HUFC Ltd company so they could just watch bit of football. Sometimes you read comments like that and wonder whether its worth the effort that the Supporters Trust Directors are putting in, and have put in over the last 10 years, they're present up at York today working on the Supporters Trust behalf, to look at how we can transition to a sustainable Worcester City FC. So sorry that it won't be WCFC as you know it, but unlike you, we want to be able to have a football club in Worcester that can represent our city as WCFC, and it will be the same WCFC, just a different constitution. And if we have to rise back up through the ranks again like Aldershot, like Hereford, like Leamington, then we will bloody well do it.

I have never been against the idea of a new club, but fact is fact, it will not be the same club.
Wcfc and afcwc are now the same thing. We can take heritage, memories, connection, but it is not wcfc.

So you're saying that a supporter owned club would not be the same club? If the constitutional change at the General Meeting had been passed, it would not be the same club?
