... and last league game of the season is the 9th Sept!
Unfortunalely, the play-offs will extend that to the end of the month.
What chance JT returning?

JT is not the first City player to also play for the Portland Timbers. Anyone know the other one?

I did say 'play' as opposed to 'bobble around a pitch in massive shorts doing a good impression of a Weeble'. So no. Want to know the answer?

You know, the more names that come up, the more I think that there could be 20 ex City players who could have played for Portland Timbers.

JT is not the first City player to also play for the Portland Timbers. Anyone know the other one? Ally Robertson? George Armstrong? Must be someone who was fairly cr*p for WCFC or obscure?

No one could accuse Jimmy of being cr*p! Pretty much the last of the true football cricketers to play at the top level in both sports.
Good quiz question though.

Worcestershire seem to have led the way in the last 30 years with dual footballer/cricketers. In addition to Jimmy Cumbes, the County also had Ted Hemsley (Sheffield United and Shrewsbury Town), Paul Pridgeon (various non-league clubs) and Phil Neale (Lincoln City and briefly WCFC).
Yorkshire had a few dual sportsmen in the late 70s, Arnie Sidebottom (Ryan's father), Bill Athey and David Bairstow all played professional football during the winter.

You could argue that Arnie was one of the best ever playing test cricket for England and for Man U in the top league.
Jim Standen also played at the top in soccer (West Ham) and for the County in the 60's
There cant be many dual internationals since 1945. Did Denis compton ever play for England at Soccer? I don't think he did but happy to be corrected.
