GC
I believe you can get out of Ledbury now - since yesterday late morning. Along the A417, then M50, M5.
Dont try going up the A449 as severe flooding still on the A449 by the Wellington pub.

Funny that - no mention on bbc hw that this road is still closed!!!!! I rang them on friday early afternoon and texted that the road was inpassible by the pub, plus Colwall was inpassable yet nothing was broadcast or on the website!!!!!! All they were bothered about was New Road and the rugby club!!!!
I am very unimpressed with them at the moment.
I came home that way on Friday and I had to drive through the river pouring over the road at great speed so i am not sure if that way will be open with the river rising

On Saturday morning we had to help around 160 people to get away from Ledbury Community Centre (as well as another 120 who slept on the floor at the Feathers and a further 80 from the Primary School). I got a phone call at 7.30 on Sat am from someone who had made it through the Eastnor/Castlemorton/Barnards Green route, and that was a way that we got a number of people back to Malvern.
I think J2 on the M50 (East) has been open for a while now (in part by entering onto the Westbound carriageway and then crossing over) to avoid the landslide.
Personally, I think H&W were invaluable.

mmmmmmm giving out road numbers - i had no atlas!!!
Saying all the up to date info is on their website - very handy when you are in your car!!!!!
I rang them and asked does their announcement that the m50 is flooded meant it was closed. I was told they had no idea! If they had given the correct information it would not taken me 3 hours to get home. I would have gone on the motorway to start!!!! In stead i used it in desparation after trying 4 other ways. I only work 4 miles from junction1
The road being closed from Malvern to Ledbury only made the announcements at 6pm friday and is still not on the website.
But i do know there is likely to be no cricket at new road and the brook burst its bank at the rugby club!!

It was a nightmare trying to find out what was going on. Basically, roads were closing within half an hour as hillslope run-off gathered in dips in the minor roads, and then the river floods kicked in about 24 hours later.
We had guys bringing in people right through the night, including at 4.30 am from as nearby as Little Marcle.

I'd bought my train tickets about three weeks ago but decided against the prospect of being stranded in Brum given that there was no public transport running between there and Worcester. There is a match report on the City website at www.worcestercityfc.co.uk/NewsItem.aspx?nid=320

Thanks, Wonderfull.
I like the way the current squad can, even without Smudger and the relatively small numbers available, put out a side with defensive teeth to it.
That squad can equally become quite attacking, with say Smudger in on the right of the back three, pushing Ryan Clarke further forward. Or bringing in Craig behind the front two into a 3-4-3 shape.

I thought we looked good today particularly at the back and in the middle, I think finding our best front 2 could be our undoing though come the start of the season. Troy looked good again when he came on.

I didn't make it myself either; hat's off to the 337 brave fans who did. True supporters. I'll be there Tuesday tho' - floods permitting, tho' hopefully they'll have receded a bit by then.

That looks pretty close to our best XI with the exception of Chris Smith and the vexed question of which strikers should play.

I thought it was a solid performance but the key this season will be keeping the ball moving and keeping it on the floor. I also agree with wh the headache is going to be which combination to play up front, someone is going to be unlucky and it will probably be Craig Wilding.

You'll want BBC H&W to send someone round to wipe your a**e next. 3 hours to get home? well big wank, plenty of people failed to get home on Friday night including a couple of my friends who slept in the car. Plenty of people don't have homes to go home to any more.

I'm scarily with OB on this.
My father was stuck at work in Malvern for 14 hours on Saturday morning, a mate of mine was stranded at the school where he works for a good 5 hours on Friday night with his class of young kids with Special Needs - and my boss at work coming back from a funeral in Brecon had to spend two nights in Hereford with his family - due to all roads back to Worcester being underwater.
H&W were superb this weekend - kept us all informed with the outages in the National Grid, what was going on in the County, etc.
GC - if they hadn't of done anything of the sort and just stuck to their regular programming you would have been the first one on here moaning as well.

H&W did a fantastic job all weekend and I won't have a word said against them! Perfect example of how local radio can come into its own and provide and invaluable service. In the last few days some people have lost everything they own or had their treasured possessions ruined. Perspective required please Mrs GC....

Creaner if you live by a river you should expect to be flooded!
My sympathies are with those who dont who were affected by the flash flooding.

the last few days some people have lost everything they own or had their treasured possessions ruined. Nah - sod 'em - they didn't get delayed from getting home by 180 minutes - that's SO much more important than losing property... I can sum that up with one thing -

Oh yes the 20 minutely reports today were classic. My husband rang me to tell me about the M50 so i listened to the next report. No mention of it! 40 minutes later it was mentioned again! I was all prepared with my atlas, winter coat, supplies etc.
So off I went home as there was going to be choas on the M50 and heyho I was home in half an hour and no problems anywhere!
Just think about all the poor sods that are stuck in Tewkers and Upton that are not getting paid whilst they cant get to work.
And all the animals that have drowned and the devastation to wildlife. Not to mention all the farmers who have lost their crops - no insurance for them.
At least I can be safe in the knowledge the government cares more about protecting russian villains than it does its own population!

Good grief, words fail me at the ignorance of some people. I'm tempted to try and explain this dreadful situation to you but I feel it would be a waste of my time. Also, I am not posting anything whilst I'm as angry as I am now with the above and I may say something I later regret. Grow up woman.

My hubby set off at 6am to get over the hill as the road closure was not mentioned to find (quelle suprise!) it still was. It is still not on their website. Of course i forget we are the poor relations in Herefordshire. That is why we get crap country music and not match coverage!
