I wonder if we could suggest to the developers that they commemorate some of the City `greats` by naming the streets after them. I quite like the sound of Kirkwood Road, Tudor Court and Inglis Drive. What other suggestions could we put forward?

What other suggestions could we put forward? A great idea! Thet have done something similar at a new development near Blackpool's Bloomfield Road ground with the roads named after the 1953 FA Cup winning side. I do not know what the rules are but up here an attempt to get a street near Murrayfield named after a Rugby great failed becaus the said player was very much alive and well and did not "qualify" to have a road named after him! My choice? Inglis Avenue.

Some of those are a bit `off message`, methinks. Lancaster Gate? Somebody will be suggesting Boddy Boulevard before long !

The decision has I believe already been made. I was given the opportunity to put some suggestions forward but the developers I understand have decided to go for "The Lane." Actually I think that's ok. There is only one road.
They are interested in putting something in place to mark the fact that it was once a football ground and I hope to be able to help in that respect.

Why not flog them the gates?

It strikes me that one of the remaining pylons would make an ideal vehicle for a public hanging....or hangings of those responsible for this state of affairs!

I expect the Harry Knowles, Main Stand and Shed to have gone by next weekend.

It is no consolation at all but we are not alone. In Scotland the upcoming demolition of a non-league ground in Glasgow brought this response from a journalist who is also a player. It is equally apt for SGL:
“If ever a football ground epitomised the history and soul of the junior [non league] game then it would be Benburb's crumbling yet glorious Tinto Park. It's the classic paradox; ramshackle and old-fashioned on the one hand but a thing of beauty and completely captivating on the other. The 82-year-old ground in the heart of Govan would make a health and safety officer spontaneously combust with rage.”
Fortunately Benburb FC move to a new ground with a "state-of-the-art" artificial pitch.

All that is left are the floodlights !!
The only reason they've not knocked down that block of stand is because of the power unit in the old basement which you had to access from the cellar
