Yes, a lump in my throat whilst talking with Anthony, I met Sid and Sheila Bushell, they were collecting some SGL turf to lay on Sarahs garden at home - very very touching! Its such a depressing sight, and its got like this in a week! It just goes to show how much work had to go in to keeping SGL in good shape every week, every day! and now its just falling down like a house of cards. Careys take the keys now, I doubt I'll recognise it next weekend when I come back from my Euro business trip.

On a lighter note the club has had money for all the wood and metal taken, just shows how the newer perimeter fence had kept rubble and over grown weeds and bushes at bay for the last few years.

In fairness it's been cleaned up because the TV that some muppet chucked onto the pitch in that very spot has been moved !
I will add some of my photos tomorrow

If people are posting more photos of the ground as it disintegrates and is "developed" I won't be visiting this thread again.

Verner, apparently Careys were unimpressed with the state of the ground prior to handover, that's why the Chairman was down at the ground on a Sunday morning, broom in hand, cleaning up ready to hand over today. I've got massive faith in the future of the football club with Hampson at the wheel. Hampson and the Supporters Trust are providing a pragmatic and sensible approach to delivering a manageable football club for Worcester. I was told a couple of quite amazing things yesterday, when the dust settles I will tell more, but believe me, if you thought Hallmark could stoop quite low, think again!

Stop going on about the state of the lane,,what did you all expect. The bitterness should be aimed at the people who allowed the ground to come to an end in the first place. The bulldozers will soon be flattening the place so stop all this sentimental rubbish.SGL will live long in the memory of the people who had total affection for the place and it certainly was the home of my dreams.Just stop bemoaning the few angry idiots who made a mess last Wednesday and consider channeling more thought towards the real guilty culprits.Furthermore, most of the board have put in a sterling effort over the past few weeks so it is refreshing to know that the Chairman was around on Sunday lending a hand. Finally, you will only be telling us something about Hallmark that we have either known or thought for years.

Nothing wrong with sentiment my friend, just think we have gone beyond that now.Safe to say most people are angry rather than sentimental, hence my comments about the state of the ground when it will soon be heartlessly levelled.Fair play to you regarding Hallmark,it's just my opinion that anything you have to say about him would not come as any surprise.Regards.

Yes, I have no anger, disappointment, and I have a fascination for buildings when they start decaying, I've visited a few other empty football grounds, old mansions, that kind of thing. I think its quite fascinating how a ground can fall like a house of cards so quickly, it makes you think about how much work has to go on to keep up the façade.

In advance of The Ricoh Thursday: We know that come tomorrow, none of this will be here So hold tight on your anger, you hold tight on your anger Hold tight to your anger, don't fall to your fears Now when all this steel and these stories, they drift away to rust And all our youth and beauty, it's been given to the dust When the game has been decided and we're burning down the clock And all our little victories and glories have turned into parking lots When your best hopes and desires are scattered through the wind And hard times come, and hard times go And hard times come, and hard times go And hard times come, and hard times go And hard times come, and hard times go And hard times come, and hard times go Yeah just to come again Bring on your wrecking ball Bring on your wrecking ball Come on and take your best shot, let me see what you got Bring on your wrecking ball Bring on your wrecking ball (bring on your wrecking ball) Bring on your wrecking ball (bring on your wrecking ball) Come on and take your best shot, let me see what you got Bring on your wrecking ball

Yes, I don't think we can really be angry about the passing of SGL, it was generally accepted that the costs of maintaining her would mean the inevitable would come sooner or later...
I'm not angry about it, angry about what has happened, but now hopeful going forwards. I will miss the old place hugely, but c'est la vie.

In a fit of unabated nostalgia I have had the back and front cover of the Chester programme framed and it hangs in the office here in the Athens of the North. Last week a visitor from London was in the office and saw it. He turned out to be an exiled City fan originally from Droitwich!

I just got the shock of my life walking back from Shrub Hill station tonight past midnight to home which is on the Ombersley Road....I was in the company of another lad who'd been to watch Birmingham at QPR (I'd been upto watch Forest play) and we were talking about football and Worcester City with the plight of the ground etc and just as we were crossing over St Georges Lane through Barbourne along the main road we got the shock of our lives to see The Old Girls floodlights majestically beaming away....I said to him 'am I seeing things or dreaming all this?'...naturally we then legged it down to see what/how it was possible this miracle was occurring! The gates were all still locked up and the boarded up bit was all still secure so we went right round the sides of the ground by the canal and flats end looking through the gaps and holes...not a soul in sight or sound to be heard except the steady hum of the lights!!! As I write this now they are still on at 230am...the Old Girl still has life in her yet it seems!!!
