The proposal is for a sports hub in Fernhill Heath on what looks like a greenfield site between FH and Hindlip. A new ground etc which looks to be part of, and presumably, funded by 250 new homes. Not sure what the planning status of the land is but if it comes off it would be great. May take some time to work through the labyrinth that is the planning system though.

It has been a while..a very very long while. We reckoned 1979 but you may know better?
So what was the best thing yesterday?
Another 500+ attendance?...maybe The glorious sun and warmth?...maybe The determination and skill for City’s third?...maybe The terrific ovation as City left the pitch?...maybe Being top of the league?...maybe
..playing Time is Tight as the teams ran out? Definitely.

Magic night at Sixways. A crowd of 2;475 witnessed a rather downbeat derby with City a cut above the Raiders. A wonder goal which swerved cruelly round the bewildered home keeper. City played with caution opting to frustrate Raiders who could not find any space and did not muster a shot on target. City pushed forward in the last twenty and a second goal would not have flattered us. A great win, three points and another win. Interesting to see the Raiders stand full for the fixture. Stadium and parking were excellent. It might make sense to play the reverse fixture at Sixways so the club benefits from a real bumper pay day. C’mon you blues

Pitch Croft is owned by the Council and is leased to Arena Leisure plc. The rugby club used to play in an enclosed ground there so there might be something that could be worth an enquiry to Arena

Claines Lane will never be a venue suitable for City to rise up the pyramid. Apart from the pinch point at the slope the pitch is dreadful. A decent level of football requires a pitch that does not have such a slope from goal to goal, a much better playing surface, and the potential for more covered accommodation for patrons. The New Lane is never going to deal with these issues. Perdiswell is a great location but has a low probability of happening. So where? One location that has not come up in discussion is Pitchcroft. It has many pluses and obviously a few negatives although I don’t think flooding is necessarily one of them as Bewdley have a ground next to the river and have overcome the issue. Of course there is a lack of infrastructure but that would be much the same for any new ground. Not sure who owns the land but for most of the year it just sits there earning nothing. Access for crowds, parking etc all look good to me . I have no idea what the cost of a simple stadium would be but it could be financially viable with grants, fundraising etc. There is certainly room for expansion.

A rather disappointing result and performance on Saturday. Wolves Casuals were pretty awful but City let them off the hook with some comedy defending early in the second half. We didn't make much impression on the leakiest defence in the League after falling behind but there was plenty of effort. It was a rather untidy performance at times and we suffered from a lack of width and playing too many long balls which were gratefully swallowed up by a couple of robust centre backs. No doubt City can play better but to some extent the pitch prevents them playing the passing game they are capable of and is a bit of a leveller.

A superb triple has set us up for the next month where we can put relegation fears well and truly behind us. The question is can we do it at home? I don’t think Casuals at home is going to be a given but if we apply ourselves as we have in the recent past we should be slight favourites. A good goalie with some real presence hasi made a huge difference in my view. Well done the lads.

Super show from a revitalised City today. CC has clearly been working hard on organisation and playing a simple passing game holding onto the instead of hoof n hope when nothing is on. The whole team looked transformed by that win midweek and the sending off hardly made any difference as the lads managed the game out without too much anxiety. I think it’s the first time I have ever seen a team take a corner and have no one in the box...all bar two or three hanging back to prevent any Bewdley breakaway. In truth two or three would not have flattered us but stuff the goals it’s the vital points we needed and Kyonn grabbed em with a good finish. I thought we would have our work cut out today but Bewdley seemed out of form despite havIng a few talented players. Good turn out by the City fans..must have been 100+ at least.

Not sure who pays the leccy bill? Is it included in the rent? In any event saving power seems a good idea whoever puts their 50p in the meter. More of a public duty to conserve energy where possible at the moment. Help bring demand and hopefully prices down , help those who are desperate and struggling at the moment and show Vlad the Impaler that he ain’t going to win. It’s a sensible measure to play in natural light where possible and I believe the option is there for clubs below the PL in England and for clubs in Scotland. Who gives a stuff about the World Corruption Cup. What happens at the New Lane matters much more 😀

Well there it is. Cannot say the appointment thrills me or fills me with confidence but my view is probably clouded by memories of his time as a player. Clearly a talented player who did not fulfil his potential . Let us hope, that like many other successful managers who never quite had stellar careers they wanted ( Clough, Ferguson, Klopp etc) Chris relives his playing dreams through a successful City side. On the evidence so far he has proved effective as a manager. Fingers crossed his ambition and talent matches that of the Club and that we have a period of stability and a decent second half of the season and go from there.

Thank goodness for that! An absolute avalanche of goals for our favourites and a vital three points. Character to come back and snatch it at the end. Let’s hope we can start finding the net from open play soon too. Long way to go to move up a further place in the table but maybe, just maybe, we have turned the corner on the pitch.

Made my annual visit today. Very pleased with result. City deserved winners but in truth there was plenty of perspiration and little inspiration from either side on a very dry and consequently bobbly pitch, Without forming a judgement on just one showing our defence looked all at sea but battled throughout and prevented hitherto unbeaten (in the MFPL) Lichfield from having much in the way of clear chances although our goalie didn’t fill me with much confidence. Lichfield looked rather jaded from their exertions against Boston United last weekend and lacked potency up front. I thought our skipper was easily the best player on the pitch and did a magnificent box to box job and was unlucky not to score in the first half with a very brave header. We created plenty of good positions going forward but failed to find the right pass all too often to create good goal scoring opportunities. Can’t fault the lads for effort and I thought we could and maybe should have had two or possibly three penalties in the first half ..one for a clear push and the other for an obvious hand ball. Let’s hope we get a decent draw in the first round proper to be drawn on Monday. Presumably the fact that it was an all pay game led to the rather modest attendance.

I had a brief chat with Steve Goode at the match last week. In conversation he mentioned a new ground coupled with the word “when”. Now for some Chairmen that would mean nothing but with our Stevie G...? I am sure it is high on the list of priorities as there is very limited scope for improving Clanes Lane as far as I can see beyond the creation of a non muddy pathway round the perimeter so you are not standing in mud the whole game. I can’t think it is worth spending much on a ground we don’t own other than the essentials for the level the Club are playing at. I wouldn’t have a clue where or when the Club might move but the first thing must be to get the finances right and then I guess it will be one small step at a time in terms of progress. Crowds are certainly very good and the 700 against Bewdley was as good as some Conf North games at the Lane. Let’s hope for decent weather on home matchdays as the New Lane would be no fun in the wet.

It has taken almost 13 years but I returned to the New Lane today to see City overcome a spirited Whitchurch. The visitors came to improve their impressive away record and started well but City resolutely kept them at arms length with some determined defending. The Blues couldn't make anything happen at the other end in the first 20 minutes and the attempted long balls over the top of the defence bounced harmlessly down the slope. The game turned about midway through the first half with City coming into it more and more and creating scoring opportunities which were spurned though none were gilt-edged.
Kicking towards the impressive HQ building in the second half City battled on and produced four goals of high quality with Fuller remaining calm and collected to bag a brace in what turned out to be a stonking win in the end. All four City goals came from impressive combinations upfront with great passing unstoppable running and composed finishing for all four.
Determined in defence, grafting in midfield and simply too good for the opposition up front this was a most impressive display to welcome me back.
It is clear that Tim Harris has started to work some magic here with the side looking organised and disciplined. That was even more impressive in the face a few nasty challenges as Whitchurch became a little frustrated in the second half. I don't think they managed a shot on target all game which is great credit to the City defenders. Another good crowd of maybe 550 (?). All in all a thoroughly good day.
Good to chat again with the wonderful Steve Goode before the match. Give the man his medal now!

Find the purpose and the means will follow.
The key is to ensure that purpose of this new opportunity for Worcester is sufficiently broad and exciting. Define this correctly and the means can be found.
Find the purpose and shout it loud.

One thought...some thoughtful “marketing “ of the Club, its history and recent travails build recognition throughout the world wide football community and then....crowdfunding?

I don’t really care about Bromsgrove City any more. Sad but true.
Unless the club can run at break even or better then it’s time to wind it up and give the shareholders (most of) their money back.

True true lol
Well there we are as predicted by me and others at the outset this particular herring is vivid bright red and always was. Something flashy to take peoples eyes off the pathetic shabby volte face in respect of Perdiswell which has been proven to be the only viable, deliverable and popular location for a new ground.
It is hard to believe that anyone could honestly consider that backing Parsonage Herring over Perdiswell could ever possibly be in the best interests of the Club, company and supporters.
For the umpteenth time this Board led by The Chairman has failed all those who have City’s best interests at heart.

Just to throw this out their as it’s always players that get the credit for things but which non player at the club has been a star this year? Whether it be in the board room ( not likely ) management or match day staff who has done the best work for the club this season? Rob Crean and Trust Board

Whilst not without controversy in his past football dealings DH would be welcome if he can get rid of Hapless Hampson. In fact anyone would be welcome if they could achieve that. Oh and he can find the £500 or so to buy my shares he would be even more welcome!

The chairman made it very clear that the shareholders needed reassurance that the club would survive as it was his duty to act on their behalf. Really? If only that had been done.

Ignoring all other factors the location is about as unattractive as you could imagine for a sports stadium. Even if it were built and even if City were a supporter owned club I doubt I could summon up the enthusiasm to drive to some god forsaken windswept allotment to pay to watch fifth rate soccer.
Happily this site is a non starter and never has been. It is and has always been a smokescreen so that the Chairman appears to be doing something whereas in truth ,as Always says, this is a plan that is not a plan. It is a work of fiction that suits the Council and Hampson has clutched at that particular straw because he is incapable or unwilling to devote himself in the way that is required to dig City out of the pit they are in. It’s always been the easy life for him and that is simply not enough. The Trust has shown how much talent and effort is needed to make something happen and the current unelected cabal that runs this Club has neither.
