Unfortunately I have no idea who the old man is, although I did see the star of Gregorys Girl at Euston station the other week (having sat opposite Kristin Scott Thomas on the way down but having no idea who she was!!) But no it was't Clare Grogan, or Dee Hepburn, just John Gordon Sinclair

Right - I never watched it, although even if I had, I wouldsn't have recognised him, I'm just so crap when it comes to spotting famous people. I was driving the family round London some years back and this bloke walked in front of the car and I nearly hit him, turns out it was Brian Sewell (who he?)

My wife said the same thing? Having seen him on the tellybox a couple of times now, I have plans to drive up and down the Embankment until I see him. He is a bit of a pretentious a**e isn't he?

A few years back I was walking through the shambles and as I turned to go into Reindeer Court I bumped into this guy. We apologised to one another and carried on. When I turned to look at him I recognised him - Roy Hattersley.
Impressed?

Pretentious? Brian Sewell? Surely not? Although he did slag off Rothko's paintings (the huge blocks of flat colours) when one sold for several billions the other day, so he can't be all bad.

Strange we should have a celeb thread today. I bumped into Gail from Corrie about two hours ago, outside the Channel 4 building.

What time? I can recommend several of the watering holes if you have a lunchbreak, I will be around there 12-2.

I was just going to take you up on that but have had to switch my day so I'm up in Nottingham now - shame. Are you around that area a lot? I'll let you know when I'm next down, a watering hole sounds good

Once asked a woman in HMV (Birmingham) for the time ... and realised afterwards it was Barbara Dixon.
Thought I saw Adrian Childs in Malvern the other week.

Nearest I can come to that was travelling in the same compartment as Delia Smith on an Inter-City 125 from Plymouth. When you get close up she is ancient!

Pretentious? Brian Sewell? Surely not? Although he did slag off Rothko's paintings (the huge blocks of flat colours) when one sold for several billions the other day, so he can't be all bad. I used to think he was too pretentious but when he judged an arts competition set up by the Beeb he chose as the winner the guy you would have thought would be his last choice and for the "right" reasons. I marked him down as genuine from that moment on and I think he is. At least he is able to articulate how things have been dumbed down . "Why is everything sh*t?" was a great book title spotted at Edinburgh airport the other week. One aimed at the over 40's? I have to say that is my attitude to a lot of things and it is seriously depressing. Give us quality and beauty and something to marvel at! Brian Sewell points us that way IMHO.

Met Cynthia Payne (Madame Cyn!) a few years back at Shrub Hill station and had a cup of tea and a chat! Very nice lady! When she went for her train she gave me a Luncheon Voucher with her picture on it saying "Thanks for all your custom over the years!" and signed it for me. Kept it for ages but lost it somewhere since.
