Maybe, but nowhere near TP or Bradfords!! Proper builders merchants with staff who know their clout nails from their perp joints! Have to say though that Wickes is far better than Homebase (although your cutting discs are absolute pants and you don't sell cobalt drill bits for some reason) Homebase drongos don't know a bolt from a set screw!!! The best though have to be the drongos at Halfords, you're there looking for a rotor arm for a CE300 Merc, flicking through the little books they have there and one comes up to ask if he can help you. So you tell him what you're looking for, and he asks what year ( which is far less relevent than whether its the 12 valve or 24 valve engine, but they've been taught to ask "what year?) So you tell him "1991" and what does he do? starts looking through the same bloody book that you've been looking through and says "sorry sir, I can't find it in here!!!" Well no you can't, I've already established that , because I can also read!!! There's one very good bloke up at Halfords on blackpole though, been there years, knows cars, and also knows when parts are interchangeable. The rest though? I had fun trying to explain to one spotty nerd in there that a Ford Probe thermostat was also the same as a Mazda 623 t-stat, he wouldn't have it "no sir, its definitely a Ford part, not a Mazda" No! its a Mazda engine!!! , "sorry sir, its not listed under Ford, we don't stock it!" How I miss Worcester Motor Factors!! although Bromsgrove Motor Factors are pretty good.

wickes is now owned by TP, more of a tradesmans place whereas homebase is more of a regular DIYers place. Hence the name Wickes building supplies

halford s drongo s are a little more "aggressive and fearless" with "elaborate tail decoration" and sit "very upright whilst perched".

Homebase is a decorating and home furnishings shop, its hardly a DIY shop anymore.

Q. How do you confuse a Wickes worker? A. Put a load of shovels up against a wall and ask him to take his pick.

Spirit levels are generally faulty and carry a disclaimer. There are tolerances of up to 6%, which is why brickies keep turning the level round.
