Investing in local talent of a different kind, Harrison Clark Rickerbys is sponsoring Worcester City FC for the coming season as well as celebrating the arrival at the club of Josh Harris-James, son of Worcester family law head Kevin Harris-James. The club, which is currently looking for a new home closer to the city than its present Bromsgrove base, marked the start of the season in fine style on Saturday (12 August) with a home win (3-0) against Heanor Town. Kevin Harris-James, who presented the sponsorship cheque to joint manager Lee Hughes on the day, said afterwards: “I’m delighted that we can support our local club – I’m obviously proud of Josh’s achievements, but I’m also very proud to be able to invest in local talent in the city. I’m looking forward to a great season.” Lee Hughes said: “We very much welcome the firm’s support and we’re looking forward to the season.” Josh Harris-James comes to the club via its youth team and Studley, Causeway Utd, Fairfield Villa and Cadbury Athletic. He started his career at Feckenham FC. Harrison Clark Rickerbys has 450 staff and partners based at offices in Worcester, Hereford, Birmingham, Cheltenham, the Thames Valley, and the Wye Valley, who provide a complete spectrum of legal services to both business and private clients, regionally and nationwide. The firm also has a number of highly successful teams specialising in individual market sectors, including health and social care, education, agricultural and rural affairs, defence, security and the forces, advanced manufacturing and construction. www.hcrlaw.comUpdated 10:58 - 14 Aug 2017 b

Blimey I thought, when seeing the headline on Facebook, the board have actually gone out and got the club some sponsorship. Hurray. Then I read the article and turns out that a firm that has had well over 50 years to "support our local club" has only done it because one of their director's sons has been signed up, or perhaps been encouraged to sign up. Who knows? Not me, I can't even count.

History has a habit of repeating itself when it comes to the WCFC Board ignoring sound independent legal advice.

Wonderful support for local football from BBC local radio today. Plenty of updates on Premiership scores, the inevitable full coverage of Hereford FC (aka Trevor Owens United) but sod all on City, Bromsgrove, Evesham, Westfields, Redditch. Stourbridge etc.. Regarding City coverage, the 'official' view is that Midland Football League is too low in the pyramid to get covered. That wasn't the view when Hereford were in MFL!

Yes Hereford had plenty of coverage in our league didn't they, even kiddy get live commentary and I doubt any other local radio station in the country does that for a national north league side. To be fair Redditch are going just aswell so why do Hereford get more attention?

Hereford get more coverage because they have a few more people interested in them.

Largely, I've felt that the updates we've had from H&W have been pretty decent this season. We've been treated in the past, having a commentator at just about every game for years gone by. We've had BBC H&W giving updates on just about all of our games, and they've had a reporter at 3 of our games so far. Max, our PA announcer sends over post match interviews to them, which more often than not get played post match on the radio. Of course I would love full match commentary for every City game to be broadcast out on their main frequency - I told Trevor Owens this myself... but we must be realistic of our expectations. Remember, a lot of clubs at this level get no press coverage at all, unless they have a good cup run. For those that cannot make games, here's a few links to where you can keep up to date with the game/City going ons: I post regular updates to the club Twitter each game. The Rocester game was probably our least tweeted league game so far this season, and there were still 30+ tweets sent out. On YouTube we will have a highlights package from most of our 'home' games from now onward, along with player and manager post match interviews. There are plenty of interviews going up on the club website along with previews and reviews of games and photos of the match from Rob, Chris and Peter. Worcester News have sent a reporter to just about every game so far this season, usually having their live blog up and running, along with interviews/analysis throughout the week. Worcester Observer are sponsoring the City team sheets this season, they've also been to 5-6 games already this season, covering match's, doing interviews etc. Not to mention BBC Hereford & Worcester, who give updates on air be that via social media updates or by sending a commentator to the ground.
