I am trying to understand the requirement for complete silence. The resignation of Vauxhall Motors FC from the then Conference North was made public on 5 March 2014. Confirmation of their eventual place in the West Cheshire League (Step 7) followed much later on. I always assumed that the public announcement on the resignation was to be fair to everyone - players (who were allowed to get fixed up with another club if they wanted), supporters and other clubs (the club was in 15th place at the time and not in the relegation fight).
I can understand why the FA would not want any comments from the club on where it may/want to play next season until after the FA has made its announcement. However, surely resignation from the National League is a separate issue and I cannot see the need for secrecy. In fact, I can only see a case for openness.
It is academic now but I cannot see how a statement along the following lines could not have been agreed and made soon after 1 March:
The Club has made an application to the FA to cease being a member of the National League and be placed in a lower league for next season. The FA League Management Committee (LMC) has absolute discretion in terms of the Step at which it places a Club. The Club will fulfil its fixtures in the National League but irrespective of its final league position will be given one of the three relegation places. Although discussions on the Club’s place within the National League System for next season are on-going, supporters will understand why we will make no further comment until the LMC has made it decision that is expected in mid-May.

I think the Silence of the Lambs, sorry Board, is pretty obvious. Announce the relegation in March and crowds will fall considerably, and they may encounter some abuse while sitting in their special seats. Dupe the City fans into thinking there is something to play for, get bigger crowds and that's more money in the coffers for them to waste next season. But that's the kind of cynical thinking that I would do, being part of the supporters Trust, who, unbelievably, are still seen by many as trouble makers.

"Despite speculation, the club were required to remain silent until the outcome was known." Except it didn't.......it specifically said that voluntary relegation had NOT been applied for. Going down to level 5 is not the worst thing ( and note Hampson blames the FA for that) but that "chairman" must go. I don't care if he says no-one is putting their hand up- JUST GO. Things could not be any worse. I've mentioned on here previously that at the time the club made this statement it was probably true that no application had been made. However it is clear now that the last two months of last season were a charade. I understand that the league asked for the application for voluntary resignation to remain private as we were scheduled to play most or all of the promotion contenders over the remaining weeks and they wanted to maintain the integrity of the league, i.e. they wanted us to remain competitive. Like many I can accept that we are where we are, but I am disappointed that fans and shareholders continue to be treated with contempt. There is no attempt to engage fans in dialogue, no attempt to win back lost goodwill, no explanation of the way forward from here. The outdated constitution remains in place, we have failed with the business plan that was announced last summer, we seemingly have no new sponsors or investment. The point has been well made already that if the club carries on doing the same thing, it will carry on failing. Next season could be successful and entertaining on the pitch but if that does prove to be the case it will only mask the decline off the pitch. There has to be change but to me it seems there is no drive to achieve this, despite pressure from the many fans who truly care about our club.

Duping the players also into believing there was a chance of avoiding the drop! Some of the lads played out of their skins in those last few games and at Fylde in particular (where we couldn't influence who would win the league) the desire to 'get a result' was definitely in evidence. Players apologising to supporters at the end of the game sort of says it all. Dodger.

It is beyond abhorrent that the rabble in charge of the club are quite happy to let the supporters use their hard earned cash following the team around, safe in the knowledge that a 5-0 win, a 5-0 defeat or anything in between, is totally meaningless. If they believe that they have the right to do that, then a complete and total boycott by EVERY supporter of "home" games (home games, remember them?), as galling as it may be for some, might be the only option left.
Then turn up in droves to the away games.....wonder if the penny would begin to drop?

It is evident that Junior English played with his hamstring at breaking point for nothing, that Danny played with a bad back after ruling himself out for the season for nothing, that Tyler picked the ball out of the net and got himself sent off for nothing, that Nathan Vaughan came back for nothing. I guess if they still feel loyalty to the club or to Snapper despite all this then that is their choice and we would benefit from their experience but I would guess it would be on much reduced financial terms.

I agree, not only have supporters been let down, but the players also. The clubs most valuable employees have simply been lied to and decieved in a pretty nasty way. Imagine of Junior English had damaged his hamstring to a point where he needed surgery, had to take time off work, could have lost his job, big impact on his family, and for what? All because he's an honest player who gives his best. How would the Board feel then? I think Danny Jackman has been treated very badly, he's put everything in, he even stepped up to help the management after Carl left, he could have left when all players were made available, but he stayed. And how's he rewarded for his loyalty? He's replaced in the management team by someone who took the dollar instead of staying to battle out the season, and he's given Step 5 football for next season. Every player who stayed gave their best for the club, whilst being deceived as to why they were doing it. Not one player owes WCFC anything at all. I hope that none of players stay around, not because they aren't good enough, or I don't like them, but because all of them deserved better.

I agree with rushwickdon. Don't go to home games(can't think why anyone would want to anyway but that's just a personal feeling).Your hard earnt cash will just be going to prop up a regime who,at best, think nothing of you.

I'll still be going to the Victoria ground. I enjoyed watching Sporting this season and even though they've increased prices to a ridiculous 7 quid, I'll be there Wonder what the City price structure will be?

Here's a thought, the Directors have used your money (gate receipts) not to pay players, but to fund an appeal and a day out for two of them at Wembley Stadium. FA appeals don't come cheap, and they're not easily won either. The club could have kept Lee Hughes, used your money to pay his wages , stayed out of the relegation zone, and then they'd have been demoted two steps to Step 4, where they wanted to be. Maybe now supporters are opening their eyes to what we've been saying, you're being taken for a ride by people who really don't care. Over the next few weeks other bits of info will be coming out which will show just how much they don't care. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
