Would also be good if some sort of 'open day' could be arranged. Give supporters a look around, get their bearings etc. and, possibly more importantly, having a practice run at travelling (car, bus, train) and any associated parking spots. Not forgetting the local hostelries if appropriate. Dodger.

Surely that would be a home friendly? Not much point in the costs of opening up the ground if there's no football on show.

It is hopeful that we will have 1 maybe even 2 friendlies at the VG

It must be an age thing (on my part) I'd got it into my head that Carl didn't see the benefit in playing friendlies so, on that basis, I'd concluded there wouldn't be any. Dodger.

I think at Aggborough it was simply a case of us trying to save on costs. Two home friendlies would be well accepted by me!

Thanks for this. Are there any plans for information about getting there by train?

First words I said when I walked through the turnstile last pre season for the WSC final was 'This reminds me of SGL' only difference really is the big terraced stand, if that had no roof then it would be so similar.

Oh, how I miss the Lane, so very much. ( How many seats are there in the main stand at Bromsgrove? (Apologies if it's in the link, but I had trouble seeing some of it).

Forever missing The Lane, and I felt it the first time I went to Bromsgrove too - it's like The Lane, albeit not as good. Nothing ever will be. Happy to settle for Persidwell mind.
From having a look at a grainy picture I found of the main stand, and counting what looks like 13 across, and 6 deep per 'block', assuming all 5 blocks hold the same, and I counted correctly, it works as 390. I'm sure to be a few off, but as a guesstimate, that'll be about right. Any advances on 390?

Hi Paul,
To be honest, with the situation of EGM my main reason to go over tomorrow is to discuss with the SO over at Bromsgrove the works that need doing, sign those off what I can, discuss things that probably dont need to be done and discuss the shop / office.
There are different ideas banging about at the moment and unlike Aggborough they have offered us use of their shop / office....this would save us a lot of time, work and money and actually help us to focus on the points that do need addressing.
I then need to report back to the board so that they can discuss and sign off works and quotations etc.
I understand Mike wants you to look at a toilet block....not the most appealiing of jobs.
Once I have more of a feeling of what we need I will PM you or said Jack a message, or maybe even Mike will be in touch once back from his holidays.

Just out of interest; How many seats will there be in the main stand once the broken ones are replaced? And what is the official capcity of the ground now? I remember when Bromsgrove Rovers were in the top conference division they had a few gates around 4,000. Its been many years since I've been to Victoria, so I'm guessing the capcity has gone down now?

This is a very long story too which would take me an age to explain on here without getting everyone confused. At the moment it is way lower, the official capacity will hopefully be upto 3,000. This will depend on crush barrier work, stewarding arrangements, management of the ground etc etc. We would then need to apply for an increase to the Safety Advisory Group over the coming months and have a test event during pre season. Obviously The VG is a classic non league football ground but work is needed and obviously the terracing in areas has been weathered over the years. It will need to be a steady process to sort it out and gradually increase. Seats is currently 371, maybe around 380-390 once seats have been replaced.

Thanks a lot, that explains what me (and I guess many others on here) what we wanted to know. I can't see there being many (league) games when we would expect to get over 2,000, so VG should work out fine. BTW re pre-season friends at VG - perhaps it would be nice to start off with a game against Bromsgrove Sporting?

Do you know what the refreshments will be like? A portion of chips at a game wouldn't go amiss, or better yet - a chip butty, especially so I can buy CityToon a 'Bromsgrove Bap'!

I am all for change but can't imagine any "Bromsgrove Bap" will come close to the cottage pies at Aggborough. The only good thing going for Kiddy.

I thought the Kiddi pie caterer people were portable to some degree? When there isn't a game on at Aggborough they might be interested in setting up at the VG?
