lancashirelad, I assume you mean to 'meet up' at Piccadilly en-route?
The difficulty may be that trains from Birmingham New Street tend to get to Stockport before reaching Manchester Piccadilly.

I'm already in Manchester that weekend with the Mrs so we' will be doing the train from piccadilly to stockport at some point. Should be fun!

Have Managed to get there and back for £44 by splitting at Leamington Spa and Stafford. Change at New Street on way up and no changes at all on way back

Mega bus is £30 return Cardiff to Manchester - but you have to leave Cardiff at 5.40am - and you get back to Cardiff just after mid-night; but just think of the fun your have

Lancashire Lad-Should be at Stockport about 12.30ish. The Crown underneath the viaduct is usually our first port of call-154 Heaton Lane. Great pub great beer
