I see that FC United of Manchester have won the Evo-Stick Premier and so will be joining us next season - well done to them. Their final home game against Stourbridge attracted just over 3,500 (I don't think 3,000 made the trip from Stour, though. ) Anyway, here are the FCUoM (impressive) stats www.footballwebpages.co.uk/fcunitedofmanchester/matchesDodger,

Not only FCUM, but I think next season is really promising in terms of clubs coming into our league...
Telford, Nuneaton of course from the Premier.... (and Alfreton in particular as is only 15 minutes from where I live!)
Plus Corby Town who are having a resurgence - they did have Greg Mills there last time I looked.
And as Carl has said - the standard continues to rise each year...

You need to try and find clubs they have played near(ish) to us to try and get an idea of what travelling support they'll bring to us, take Halesowen and Stourbridge - both have a usual gate of 350-400 (with a cracking derby between one another that brings 1,600+) - their gates against FC MoU were 1,478 and 1,444 respectively. Some you could put down to increased local support against the big team, but that's still going to be around 800+ following their team to teams near us, in the league below! If they do well in the league next year (or ideally our first game of the season is FC MoU at home) then we could well see a game with 2,000... assuming our glory hunting ''fan'' base wakes up.

I've been told (by a Hereford fan) that FCUoM are to be Hereford's first 'home' pre-season fixture.

I would urge those of you to look at the photos and video of FCUM's new stadium - very very impressive (and making me slightly jealous of them!)

An interesting piece on BBC news this morning about their new ground for the coming season (bought by the fans, one person-one vote etc., etc.)...........oh, and as its the official ground 'opening' today, they've got a friendly tonight against Benfica.
Article could well be on again at lunchtime and/or this evenings BBC news session.

Yes and their stadium cost £6.3 million to build! Seeing it cost £6.3 million to build, and took almost a year longer to build than they planned its not great. Two sides are very good amnd two are average - Kiddys ground is much better. I really would have thought that they would have built it to FL standard i.e. 5,000 with 2,000 seats - but no it only hold just over 4,300. Anyway i hope we get them away early in the season - evening kick off even better!

Unless they changed what I think were their final plans, the FCUoM ground was meant to be 'easily upgraded' to deal with demand should they be able to sustain attendances as they potentially rise through the leagues.
I would argue that they have been very sensible with their stadium size, many of their fans would agree that for some it's a protest club (against United and their owners) - so support could well continue to reduce to the size of our attendances, perhaps even lower!
Take their first season (05-06) they had 3,056 average gate, last season their average was 2,155 - a loss of 900 fans each game... even though they are now several leagues above where they started (4 promotions I think). The higher league you're in, usually means higher the attendance.
Regardless of how their club goes in the future, for the next few years at least we can pretty much guarantee they'll have more fans then most in our league, and a decent away following. Lets hope we can keep them in our league for as long as possible, because they big clubs really can help the rest of the clubs in the league financially.
