Very good commentary as well from Eastleigh. They even sympathised with the Richman sending off...!

According to Simon Richman all he did was to run over the fans to celebrate, no shirt removal or opposition bating, and as some of them leaned over the barrier to hug him that was seen as a booking. Absolutely stupid, and what is the game coming to if you can't even celebrate a goal anymore.

Yes that's all he did. Stupid decision. We played great football for the first 40 and last 10 minutes - in between we were bad. A great game though. There's the core of a terrific side there.

Can anyone tell me if the City made any substitutions in the game at Eastleigh?

If I recall correctly (off the radio commentary), Gary Walker came on for Matt Birley, and Cartwright came on for Clyde.

Hi all, Still a bit out of breath following the match yesterday. I thought it was a fair result in the end. Your second goal was a cracker. Funny comments regarding the commentary and the 'grumpy' second commentator - I didn't listen to it, but this is normally our Director of Football! Ref was poor, we had a few go against us too, but to book your goal scorer was a joke. Anyway, wish I could be there tomorrow night but I can't. Do you know if any of your local radio stations will be covering it? Good luck for the rest of the season! Some photos from yesterday here for anyone interested. www.eastleigh-fc.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4379

First up, I am an Eastleigh fan - and strongly believe that we will win the replay!!
However, I think that your team were a credit to you yesterday - and kept playing decent football fior the most of the 90 minutes. With a couple of quality additions, I would guess that you could challenge at the top end of the BSN. You certainly look a better side than when you were in the BSS - under Trigger!
Just one quick point about the sending off. In my opinion you should not blame the Referee - but blame the stupid system that ensures there is an assessor at almost every game these days. That results in the Ref applying the absolute letter of the laws, and common sense goes out the window.
Your player did throw himself into the crowd (and I dont blame him!!) - which under the laws is seen as potential encitement. The Ref (watched by the assessor) applied the law, booked the player (who had previously, rightly, already been booked) and thus sent him off. If an ounce of common sense prevailed, he (the Ref) could have just looked the other way, and ignored the obvious (harmless) exuberance. If he had done that, no doubt the dreaded assessor would have "marked him down" - but surely that would have been the right thing to do?
This season, nearly all the better Refs we have experienced have been older guys - who probably do not have a progressive future - and therefore will not be too bothered about the assessors marks. No coincidence me finks!
One final little issue. Why, oh why do we need a 4th Official in the FA Trophy. They do sweet f a to aid the game, they cost money, and it takes an official away from a game that probably ends up with no Ref, let alone a linesmen.
Rant over - see you Monday!

Given our home record, you must be favourites! But hopefully it will be as good (and dramatic) a game as yesterday. With WCFC winning (we need the £!!!!)? And maybe we can shake off our usual SGL malaise as it's a cup game! And be surprised if there's commentary, but the Worcester News link should be good for the game.

The sun is currently shining and latest satellite pictures show only hazy cloud headed our way. Should be a pleasant evening - unlike last Monday!

Me too I'm afraid.
The only recent occasion I can think of when we had a 'big' game and the team came out and performed was against Accrington.
Please, please, please City play the way we know you can tonight.
