Not sure that losing 6-0 every week would do much for our fan base or attendance figures lol

Except that £10 isn't the normal price for any PL team FFS.It's nearer £30-40 as a one-off, walk-up purchase. Obviously the product is usually better, but three times as much? Typically even Div.3 is twice as much..... Not to mention the cost or hassle of travelling and prices for food/souvenirs, which make WCFC look cheap by comparison. Plus the cost of travelling to Birmingham.

WCFC is indeed very cheap by comparison, and it is wrong to say that the product is better, because often it isn't. I've been to the most turgid of games at Villa before now. Cost of travelling to and from Witton is only £6.40 though. So a £10 ticket is indeed good value. However, its crap value if you are a Wolves supporter, or a Birmingham supporter.

Agree wholeheartedly. I was a season ticket holder at Leeds for 3 years and there was some very boring football played on occasions (but at least the game was on with undersoil heating etc). I was living in Cheshire at the time and it was an hour each way in the car on a good day, 3 hours on a bad one and average ticket cost of about £20 Now it is 2 and a quarter hours each way for a home game but some away games only 30 or 40 minutes and at £11 a game not bad value at all!

Agreed for the last 18 years I have had a season ticket at Preston just 5 mins drive away. Now it's 2-4hours drive for a home game !! But guess what I don't miss the championship, in fact the 4 games I have seen have been worse than alot at the Lane this season !

You might as well ask most WCFC fans to go to Sh*ggboro as to Villa Park. The MO'N factor aside, it has nothing to entice me there ever, pretty much.

watch a prem game or conference south game? i doubt people would pick cs But its a totally different product isnt it? I wouldnt consider going to a Premiership game in order to discuss the vagaries of Ealings Nigerian Sat Nav!! But I wouldn't go to a CS game if I was an avid fan of Premiership football and a lifelong season ticket holder at Stamford Bridge! I also wouldnt go to CS football if my company was a major sponsor of a Premiership game and I could enjoy prawn sandwiches in an air-conditioned centrally heated private box!

Which would make one a 'plastic' fan. And 'glory-hunter' to boot?

Not really, if I was a season ticket holder at Stamford Bridge for the last 20 years, I'd hardly be considered a glory hunter or a plastic fan, just a Chelsea fan who likes professional football. However, if I was to then go to the City v Harriers game, you could then call me a "glory hunter" I'm off to the FA Cup replay at Villa on Wednesday - £10!! It should be an exciting game, and there will be a result, so its sounds like a good way of being entertained for £10.
However my point was that the choice isn't Permiership game or BSS game. Thats a bit like saying its a choice between Worcester Warriors and Worcester Wolves, or Hull KR and Stourport hockey club! different products, and a lot of people do both anyway.
What exactly is a glory hunter?

What exactly is a glory hunter? Are we the right people to ask?

I wonder though whether our average crowd is more down to the fact that the level of disinterest is now higher than it was when we were in the North? back to the original subject..... I am not so sure if it is just the change from North to South. I think that the 'relative' success of the Rugby Club has diluted the following too. The cost of watching the rugby is pretty high and folks are now making a choice between the two sports & rugby is winning out. it is Premiership rugby, seeing international players week in , week out. Be interesting to see how their success has diminished our support since they hit the Premiership from when they were lower leagues.

I don't know, its thrown around all over the place this idea of "glory hunter" yet its always applied to people who start supporting a team AFTER they've had some glory. Its like calling someone a lion hunter who turns up to pose for photos after the kill! Maybe the glory hunters are us? I've spent 35 years hunting for glory at SGL and on too many jaunts around the country to mention.

Maybe the WCFC glory hunters were the likes of you and me then Jem? I think I got in just before the heady days of Southern League Champions (1st game December 1970). Those who started supporting the City in Nobby's era were the glory hunters of the day Unfortunately we got hooked on that success and now continue supporting through the s**t wading era in the hope that maybe one day the glory will return That or (the glory hunters of now) go to Villa park (or Sixways as per earlier post) as they have more chance of winning, week in week out, than City do lol

Up until the last couple of years I've enjoyed every minute of my hunt for glory with WCFC. I actually got involved just after the glory! so I've seen none of it, but hey its been fun trying to find it - until Boddy!

Well, it was mainly down to a couple of reasons all built around the "grass is greener" arguments. The South was considered an easier league to win, and not as "hard" physically as the North. Of course this is all bollocks, and the better teams will always win whichever league they are in. I wonder though whether our average crowd is more down to the fact that the level of disinterest is now higher than it was when we were in the North? JCP is correct in his thinking on this matter. A very poor squad has produced a position in the league which it deserves. Followers are fed up with the quality of the football, so, hence their departure. The crowds are down, not because of being in BSS, but because they are fed up with the performances of the team. Only us diehards still attend.
