Wilding sent off for use of the elbow, hope he gets plenty of rest for Monday. I don't know of anyone who actually saw the incident that led to Craig's sending off but it wasn't for use of an elbow. I think everyone would be surprised at such an act by him as he is most certainly not that sort of player. I spoke to the ref in the bar after the game and he told me that Craig was sent off for kicking out at a player. It was an act of retaliation as the ref said that Craig had told him that the Blyth player had grabbed his goolies which is why he reacted the way he did. The ref admitted he hadn't seen that but just Craig's reaction to it. Was just the quote I got off the Blyth forum, I was too much in shock at the time about us being 4 down to consider the sending off!

A poor result but pretty irrelevant. All will be forgiven if the team can up the game and lift a long awaited trophy on Monday evening.

Thanks, Clive.
The first-half midfield looks decidedly light.
Walker and Colley?

You know what, in a rather bizarre way I'm almost pleased that we have taken a stuffing. Hopefully it will prove to everyone at the City that we can't really get away with playing the youth team each week and that there is a need for a wholesale clear-out of this squad (as Saturdays starting XI wasn't all that youthful).
I'm sure RD's eyes have been open to the situation for some time, but just in case the board gets carried away by performances in the WSC, this is a threadbare team with effort and enthusiasm trying to mask limited ability. I would dread next season with this side beit BSN or BSS.
Thats no slight on RD, in fact, I think that his and the club's approach to the second half of the season has been spot on. Get safe from relegation and then as soon as the play-offs became an impossible dream, start jettisoning the dead wood. There is still a load more lumber to go, and a lot of new players to bring in.
Midfield looking light in the first half - how about all season its been pretty much non-existant? I would hope that RD has three or four names that he will be chasing for this area. This element of RD's management has yet to be tested and it is critical that h gets it right.
My hope is that we learn from Saturday. Its better that it happens at the end of a nothing season, than become a regular event at the beginning of a new and crucial season for the club.

Spot on, Mancunian - let's hope though that the budgetary restrictions don't prevent RD bringing in the players he wants/needs for next season.

Thans, Manc.
3 new 'uns in midfield would be my calll - if we cant afford three, then two in midfield BEFORE anywhere else - with a replacement central defender if Munday doesnt stay.
Danks, Wilding, Dinsmore, and Troy may be all we can afford upfront - and is a good balance of experience and youth. Personally I would like one more, but maybe we cant afford it, gven the needs elsewhere.
Clarke, Smith, Munday, Shabs, Rapid and Craig Brown is again a good balance - IF all are fit - but another experienced head in there if Munday returns up the A449.
Clegg, Colley, Price, Walker, Burtoft, Ward doesnt have the right balance for me. Especially as RD has said he wants to play 4-4-2.
Danny Mac back in goal.

I was really shocked to hear Craig had been sent off, especially as I heard it was for elbowing. Craig is not that sort of player.
He must be really pee'd off about that, is the club appealing?

Interesting issue as to whether the lack of goals from the forwards and the number of goals conceded has the same cause i.e lack of a decent midfield quartet to protect the back four and supply the opportunities or whether our forwards are simply not up to it? No matter how hard a forward works unless they stick th eball in the net reasonably regularly then they are a luxury. At present we only have one proven goalscorer - Mark Danks - and he is unlikely to play more than 25 -30 matches with injury and suspensions. I would retain him and Dinsmore. I would get rid of Troy and if we could replace Craig with goalscoring target man then I would go for that. I dont think it will be easy to find someone better than Craig though. We have a midfield of Price on the left and er.. So yes three needed and it is vital that we find a ball winner / defensive midfielder and a wide man. A creative central midfielder would complete the range of skills. At the back I assume we stay North and I would jettison Khan who makes too many errors for me and look elesewhere. We must try and keep Munday but I expect he will look elsewhere so we might make Clarke into a centre back with Rapid at right back.
